Is it because the lyrics are too explicit or perhaps the music is a little to "heavy?" Why does he think it's not a good song to play at Church?

If this is the case, then it may still be a great song which you can play outside of the Church setting; so don't give up on that song.

Music wise, gospel/worship music uses this progression a lot: C, C#dim7, Dm, etc.

The chromatic diminished 7 chord is used very often in these musical styles...so you can choose to use it or not (depending on how "traditional" you want the music to sound).

Best of luck.

no the music is awesome its the lyrics he says that it doesnt really talk about the title, how bout i do this type up the words i made and u can tell me how to change it

Hi Kole

I just composed my first song, it's a 2-minute instrumental, and it's nothing really good, but since it's my first song I'd really appreciate it if you could give it a listen and tell me what you think (or how to make it better, hehe). I've been playing for 1 year and 9 months and I had only composed mini melodies of less than one minute before, and beginnings of songs I never finished. I had this acoustic guitar melody with a little guitar solo from the beginning of 2008, and today in around 5 hours I turned it into a song. Anyway, I didn't record it but I have an MP3 recorded of the sampled Guitar Pro sounds, so that's what I'll send you if you accept to give it a listen.

Thanks a lot, have a great day!

Interesting concept. So I see the chorus as possibly being about many different things, but here are the two I would write about if it was my song.

1. Combine the female/male experience into one. Talk about "we" or "us" and how the breakup feeling is universal. At the end, you can sing your hook "Fishes in the sea" and it will apply to both genders.

2. The second thing I may do with the chorus, is to turn it into a stanza of hope. Perhaps the first few verses are about breaking up, but the chorus will be about how you lift your head up high from the experience and realize there are more "Fish in the sea".

hmmm thanks now ill have to think how im gonna do that lol

Having trouble w/ lyrics or music? If lyrics, what's the song about...if music, what key is it in and what was your previous chord progression?

coming up with music im excellent at its the words for the chorus im having trouble with, and in one verse its about a boy getting dumped and the other verse a girl is getting dumped and its sorta a song to help ppl get out of their rut of getting dumped. So far its name is Fishes In The Sea and its in the key of E

Yea I know what you mean. Bridges use to be a pretty big issue of mine...my next Songwriting Video may be on connecting different sections of music (or just the bridge section in general).

Can't wait
