I didn't really know there were so many guitar competition out there! I discovered a couple of real cool blogs and thanks to them (see the URLs below) even a couple of contest. The first one, Soundtrack of Summer, was already ended when I discovered it, but I decided to download the epic backing track and record some soloing for fun. You can find it in my mp3s collection here. The second one is Shred This! Competition and although if the majority of the contenders are way better then me (especialy on shredding!!!) I decided to give it a try. The run is in video format here and is the "first entry" because I'd like to record a video of a second trial before the end of the contest (on the 20th August)...
As a gift for our 2nd year together, my beloved girlfriend bought me this cool Wah pedal, the Steve Vai Bad Horsie 2 Contour Wah.
I really hope to learn how to stomp on it properly, 'cause as far as I know this is one of the best Wah pedals around altogether with the original Dunlop Cry Baby.
This non-numbered entry will be the list of my "complete" song listing. It will be the only one I'll update from time to time regardless of the number the regular posting has reached.
As today, these are the songs I can play in a decent way.

Hooray!
Yesterday afternoon I've been to Second Hand Guitar 30th edition here in Milan.
I was looking for the guitar I've fallen in love with right now, the Gibson Les Paul Goddess Rose Burst: I know it's a "female" guitar, but I'd really like to try it and decide wheter it feels comfortable (as it's lighter and with a slim neck) and soudns cool or not.
Unfortunately no Goddes was there, but I found the stand of a custom guitar maker who fixed the neck of my Blackie: it had a fuzzing noise on the first two frets since I bought it, a year and a half ago.
Finally it got completely OK and as I changed the strings (last time 8 months ago), now I'm ready to rock properly...
Was also interested in buying a Wah pedal... I saw the Ibanez Weeping Demon for 90 euros, does anyone there knows it? Is it worth that price?
Halloween time! S**t, I was so overwhelmed by work I forgot to organize ANYTHING for last night... The good thing is, I had plenty of time to play guitar! I'm trying to get Enter Sandman as best as I can, and my theacher came out with a funny tab called Tales from the Crypt (not the theme from the TV show). It was cool trying it out with him, with its gloomy atmosphere and paced riff.
I'd like to record it as soon as I get the PC working correctly...
The following TAB only covers its Intro... "M" stands for "muting". The time is 120 and the structure of this first part is ABAC.

Nothing special or amazing, still a nice "Halloween theme". Trick or treat?
Being a guitarist... When can a person say he is a guitarist? When can I say "I can play guitar"? Is it theory that defines a musician? Is it the speed of his strumming? I've been studying/playing guitar for a year and half. I've always been a rock/metal lover, finding those incredible sounds coming out of those 6 strings addictive. Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Guns'n'Roses, Iced Earth, WASP... they all deserve their power and essence to both the songwriting AND their guitar players. It was during 2006 that Guitar Hero came out. I already knew the previous Harmonix Studios games and loved them, so I had to buy it. It was love at first note... I got a job too, so I decided not to hesitate (as I did years ago for skateboarding... damn!) and I decided that those headbanging air guitar moves I always made while listening to Fear of the Dark or Enter Sandman had to be transformed into something REAL. I bought my first entry-level guitar so that if I quit early, the loss in terms of money would be acceptable... But I'm still here, and thanks to this portal and to some lessons I'm attending weekly, I find myself more and more enraptured by the sounds of my Yamaha EG-112... I even gave her a name (Blackie, as she's black and I wanted to somehow offer my tribute to Blackie Lawless)...
Still, I can't say "I can play guitar"... Why? Honestly, I can play some cool riffs from my favourite songs, but I still need a lot of practice... I think I'll use this spot to write down my thoughts about playing/studying and performing, my improvements and frustrations, hoping to get you all entertained and interested, if possible, and to have feedbacks and comments...
