The short version is my sister-in-law who used to play on a local country music TV show decided to take up the guitar again after giving it up for 20+ years. She was looking for a vintage Gibson acoustic so I went around with her to several guitar shops in Toronto. After messing around with a bunch of guitars, including a $30k 1960 Strat, I sort of got hooked. I played the banjo in college and took bagpipe lessons for a few years but I wanted to play an instrument that wouldn’t send people running to hide. So far that’s the case with the guitar but hopefully I’ll get better and people might hang around and listen.

So how long have you been playing? And what type of music do you like?

I was lucky, I wasn't looking for an electric since I have an acoustic that I was taking lessons with. But I walked into a guitar shop and saw this Tele up on the top rack and decided to try it out and loved it. It's a 2007 MIM brand new and they gave it to me for $395 CDN which works out to about $315 US.
