I bought this guitar new in 2006 as a kind of project guitar. I love the soft V neck profile on these, and the only difference between this MIM one and the '57 USA reissue one I have is the hardware/electronics. Even those differences are barely detectable. Since I intended to change all of it, anyway, the cost savings was significant.
