People talk of presidents and politics and war
And people often question the cause we're fighting for
But if you answer earnestly my respect is what you'll get
But it will never change the fact that my brother and friend is dead
Out in the Cold
People often question all the causes I support
And people often wonder why i'm against this homeland war
But if you ever asked me what I did before I died
I'd look at you and say "I held her when she cried"
When she cried
Seven years away from his son for a pocket full of herb
Now mommy works the day shift and at night she's on the curb
Their son has given up the dream and he hates all the police
But every night he lays in bed and he cries himself to sleep
Problems they are everywhere for every man, woman, and child
So sit back in your easy chair and we'll talk by the fire
And if you're feeling better well I guess she did her job
So hold my hand and we'll walk on, we'll walk along
We'll walk along
I try to see some hope in every situation that I see
They say that things will come to pass if I just let them be
So pray if that's your thing for some reprieve from the pain
Things are rough for everyone but the sun sets just the same
The sun sets, just the same
Places change and people move from New Jersey to L.A.
But i'm right here i'll be the same until my dying day
No matter where you sleep at night this saying will be true
People kill and backstab, that's just what they do
That's just what, they do
