I came from a small town in the suburbs of Cincinnati. My dad always played music when I was little. He was in a blues cover band called American Standard that played a lot of Rolling Stones, Bad Company, Stevie Rae, and Chuck Berry kind of stuff. My dad was a guitar player and I never really showed much interest in music at all I mostly saw it as just noise. When I was little I didn't do much because I mostly played video games but when I turned 12, around 6th grade, I started to get bored so my dad said he'd start taking me to a place by my house and pay for some drum lessons. First week I did it I loved it, got addicted per say.
Eventually I was craving something more, I wanted to try something new. Around 8th grade I started playing bass, my drum instructor Rye Stephenson helped me on both drums and bass. While at home I was getting some basic pointers from my dad on guitar with some open chords and stuff like that. Eventually half-way through 8th grade I noticed something very cool. Girls.
I begged my dad for guitar lessons, because I just wanted to get the attention of some girls. I didn't really have muscles, I wasn't ugly though I just needed a selling point. So I started taking lessons from Sonny Mooreman. And I hit it off really well. By freshmen year I was playing in a few projects. It wasn't until my Junior year that I booked my first gig with Skyferd Lake (check out our Facebook page for more information on my band!). While in high school I played a lot of shows being in the drum line, the jazz band, the liturgical group, and whatever other group I could participate in.
Later on guitar wasn't about girls anymore. I actually started to really develope a sort of passion for it. My Junior year my high school instructor Mr. McCormick, asked me about wanting to go to college for guitar. At first I laughed it off then I really thought about it. Eventually I descided was going to do it. While giving lessons, playing with Skyferd Lake, and still taking my drums and bass lessons I start taking lessons at the CCM Prep Department for guitar.
Close to the cut I made it into the school and I am now an attending student of CCM and my major is Commercial Music Production and I freaking love it! I just recently started playing keyboard because one of our classes is Pop Keyboard Skills.
Please be sure to check out my band on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. I'll post links below! Also hit me up on Instagram, Tiwtter or whatever my username for stuff is usually just my full name.
