About Jacksonrg300
I was born in Santiago, Chile in March of 86. My first music memory would have to be the Beatles, at age 3. I believe it was "Can't buy me love." off Side 1 of A Hard Day's Night. Through my early years I was in choir so I have an understanding how melodies work in relation with vocals and guitar, which makes if easy to write songs.
I got my first electric guitar at age 13 and started learning a few Beatles tunes then went through a Grunge faze with Nirvana tunes, then to Alice in Chains, then some Pink Floyd, which led to Led Zeppelin eventually to metal with Pantera and Metallica. My friend Fran and I would jam Metallica at his house after school in Jr. High. After leaving high school I played in a few garage/party bands, mainly grunge style/metal, covering such Metallica tunes as Call of Ktulu, Fade to Black and From Whom the Bell Tolls as well as a few 7 Mary Three tunes such as Waters Edge and Cumbersome, Primitive was the name of those jamming times c'mon! After that me an the drummer of the previous band Primitive now called Venture Blvd. formed a Metal band called Eyes of the Abyss, which was a fun adrenalin laced experience jamming in a storage unit playing a few shows in Dallas, and Oklahoma. Eventually our singer joined the army our bassist moved back to Florida, and no new material could get written so we disbanded. Around this time I was really getting into Progressive rock, such as King Crimson, Tool, Dredg and way more into PinkFloyd and the chromatic scales. A friend of mine and my previous bassist needed a band and I helped him out during the Eyes of the Abyss days well months after E.O.T.A ended I asked if it would be cool to join up with his band since they just lost one of their guitarist. There was optimism and skepticism within the group since they new of me as a metal guitarist but they gave me a shot and were blown away. Now 3 years into jamming with Dividing the Stone couldn't be more happier with the group of guys and their influences. From Rush, to Porcupine Tree, The Mars Volta, to Zeppelin, Primus, to Victor Wooten, The Who to R.E.M, Opeth to King Crimson, but in the end all of our influences encompassed her don't describe the sound.
