So with the completion of my original first written and recorded tune and a small window of what's to come I push forward. Although, I haven't really spent any time writting lyrics for "Space Walk" and the idea is just blooming at the moment I felt like I needed to get something else out there. I do have a few other songs that I have lyrics written for and no music to go with them. So now I begin the journey toward capturing these little moments one at a time and idea after idea turning them into songs.
A previous blog touched some what on song meaning. So I would like to some how explain that a little better. When I write lyrics things come out on the page a couple of different ways. 1.) Love Songs- which have there place in the music world and I enjoy them but they can in many ways limit a fan base 2.) Depressive Songs- these also have there place in music but in a lot of ways mine become depressive and angry at the same time and I am not sure how to express those emotions using the guitar as clearly as I feel them 3.) Strange Songs- these I have many of and they are WAAAAYYY out there. Sometimes I don't even know why I wrote lyrics that way or what the song even means. I do have a couple that I would like to turn into songs but most are just so far out there that I feel they are dumb.
I don't want people to think that I am an odd ball or wacked out or anything like that. I stay away from these song ideas because I want things to sound nice and easlily explainable. Not totally sure about this however and definately looking for input so feel free to add comments. Until next time....
You know I think you are a very creative and motivating person!
I suggest you DON'T hold back in fear of what others will think, let it go and
let the songs live! Feelings in music make if live, depressed or loved or just "odd ball"! I should know, the things you listed are the basses of MY MUSIC.
I suggest also keeping everything you write, it may fit into something you are working on. I also sometimes put together the odd lines, to create an entirely
new song. There is a reason those words are coming out of you brain, they want to be heard. Remember, we are here for you and I for one do not judge.
I notice, most of what I write is directed to my teenage self, in that way it will
help others see that they are not alone, and they can make it through.
RECORD, record record!
