Recently I just teamed up with a friend and teacher of mine to create an album. The album is entitled "Casual Observer" and is recorded with the idea that a person would be sitting in the room with us as we played each track. The entire experience took about three sessions. I have some final mixing to complete and then I will release a few of the tracks on these pages. Until next time...
So with the completion of my original first written and recorded tune and a small window of what's to come I push forward. Although, I haven't really spent any time writting lyrics for "Space Walk" and the idea is just blooming at the moment I felt like I needed to get something else out there. I do have a few other songs that I have lyrics written for and no music to go with them. So now I begin the journey toward capturing these little moments one at a time and idea after idea turning them into songs.
A previous blog touched some what on song meaning. So I would like to some how explain that a little better. When I write lyrics things come out on the page a couple of different ways. 1.) Love Songs- which have there place in the music world and I enjoy them but they can in many ways limit a fan base 2.) Depressive Songs- these also have there place in music but in a lot of ways mine become depressive and angry at the same time and I am not sure how to express those emotions using the guitar as clearly as I feel them 3.) Strange Songs- these I have many of and they are WAAAAYYY out there. Sometimes I don't even know why I wrote lyrics that way or what the song even means. I do have a couple that I would like to turn into songs but most are just so far out there that I feel they are dumb.
I don't want people to think that I am an odd ball or wacked out or anything like that. I stay away from these song ideas because I want things to sound nice and easlily explainable. Not totally sure about this however and definately looking for input so feel free to add comments. Until next time....
I finished what I said I was going to do. I have released the final version of my debut song "Corner of the Bed". I decided to keep it very close to the previous version and use the other ideas I had on new songs. This song is now put to rest. The track is pretty clean and the song quality is very good from where it was the first time I released it.
Also to continue the "Rainy Day Parade" I also finished up a short preview of my next project entitled "Space Walk". It is something that I have been messing around with for awhile. I haven't had any ideas for lyrics yet however. I also have two other projects under way. I don't have any release information on the final version of "Space Walk" or any of my other stuff yet. I plan on doing a few cover songs in my style as well. Enjoy and please comment, any help would be great. Until next time...
My eyes opened this morning to a gray filled sky and a cold rain coming down. These days always seem so boring. Too cold to do anything, and the rain just ruins the entire day. After watching the news I learned to much disappoinment that the rain should last ALL DAY! GREAT!
So now what? I have a few things that need to get done today but in this crap weather there isn't much else to do. Or is there????
Today I am planning a full recording session and I would like to release a few items to these pages. I previewed some things last night and I am ready to finish a couple projects today. So look forward to hearing some of my progress and I look forward to your comments. Until next time...
Moving on from where I last left off, I have spent a lot of time learning new ideas for songs and playing chords much more smotthly. When I joined these pages as a member I could not for the life of me play any kind of rhythm at all. These days that is not the case. I did release my first song labeled 'Corner of the Bed" and allowed many of you to get a taste of what I was doing. Since my departure from the comfort of these pages I have been working at length to completely developing that project and I have many different versions with no idea of a final product.
I also recently went through about 12 to 14 different various written lyric files on my computer. Many ideas were scrapped due to the fact that they did not match anything I was currently looking to get started on yet.....
Something else has crossed my mind as of late. I have been working on songs with deep meaning or no meaning. I think a song should tell a story or give a listener the idea that there is a story there. The more I hear songs the more I wonder how much is left to chance? I have a few ideas and some examples of this but I am really not at the point where I want to get into this idea completely. I do plan to save this for another blog and hope to get feedback to help me make decisions.
Lastly, in my previous blog I noted that I had some equipment failure. The Audacity program I was running crashed and I haven't really had much time to mess with it at all. I have moved to the idea of recording most of my work live. I have found plenty of "media" to capture that kind of recording at professional sound quality. Still nothing final yet.
I plan to update all of my usual readers on everything else soon. Until next time....
No not really. However a few of you know that I stepped away for awhile and I have made my return to the comfort of these pages. I didn't intend to hurt anyones feelings but I really needed a break from a lot of things. I understand that a lot of catching up is due and I will do my best to get all of my loyal readers up to speed over the course of the next few weeks. I really used this time to improve my skills and make some decisions about my guitar playing and sort of clear my head.
In my musical world things have been going well. I have formated some new ideas and spent a little time writing lyrics. I also had some equipment failure mostly in the recording department and I am currently trying to make a decision on the next piece of "media" to use to capture all of my musical creations.
I guess this time I am going to take things slow and steady. One thing at a time. Look forward to some music I've compiled in the last few weeks and obviously a bunch more blogs and some extra updates in my profile. Until next time....
