Nero's first idea: Want

I have, as Nero, finished my first official collection of songs, called Want.

Here is the link to the myspace blog, so I don't have to repeat myself: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog. view&friendID=389114602&blogID=408521493

I'm proud of it.  Most of the songs (except A Moment of clarity) can be found on my UG page.  However, if you want me to send you the album as a whole and in order, just contact me and I can email it to you or send it over AIM.

I'm better than you in at least two ways.

As many of you saw in the UG awards, I not only won for best username (expected) but I also tied for best blogs (I forget with who.)

For those of you that voted for me, thanks for the votes.  It's good to know that I'm at least accomplishing somthing with my life.  Kind of.

: peace :

First mp3

My first song, "Dissapointer" is up.  It's recorded badly, gets off-time in many different places, and is mixed very poorely.  It sounds a little better with headphones, though.

Please crit.  I think it's OK...but I don't know.

Recording material...

I know I don't blog much anymore, but I've recently been recording and writing my own material, and I figured I would tell you about it.

Recording is a bitch.  I used to think that there was nothing technical about music.  That it was all emotion, and that, when done right, there were no enzymes or barriers that would otherwise change it or hold it back.

God, I was wrong.

Having to edit stuff and make everything sound right in Audacity, all by your own self, is a pain in the ass.  And that doesn't even include writing the actual song, which is a challenge in itself.

But I've already finished one song completely (maybe I might post it up here someday...) and I must say, it is rewarding.  I wouldn't consider myself a good songwriter or musician, per se, but it's something I enjoy, so I'm gonna keep doing it.

I have a lot of other ideas in my head right now, too...once summer hits, I should have time to record them all...but with exams coming up, I have bigger fish to fry.

So...that's really it.  If I record enough material, I might make a Myspace page for myself soon.  But for now, I'm just sitting in my room, writing music and lyrics, and trying to be as original as possible...all while ripping off various Tool songs.

Poem For Nick Grundy

I feel like an absolute bastard for capitalizing off another man's suffering, but...as I've read the thread, and saw what people had to say, I just couldn't help writing.

So here is my tribute to Nick Grundy.  Again, I feel terrible for being such a whore about it, but this is only really way I know how to express myself.
------------------------------------------
I'm not one to face it
and I'm not one to pass
but this is the hour
the hour is his last

I never really knew you
you were just a light in my desk
but when I think about it
it give me shade and unrest

I hope you enjoyed us
we enjoyed you
I guess you didn't
wanna see it through

But hear my song, I'm singin'
before you're gone
It's just my way
Of sayin' so long.

Maybe we'll see you again
God knows why and when

I could have sworn just yesterday
I ws burnin' fires and havin' my way

You gave us perspective
I hope you know why
this is my way
of sayin' goodbye.
----------------------------------
I'm choking back tears.

Mayan, Pt. 4: (No Title yet)

By popular request (i.e., Stepco and George) here is the 4th part.  Also, as I think I have explained before, the whole thing is written, I just haven't gotten around to posting them all.
------------------------------------------------ --
Some wish for silence
others wish for storms
one eye to the ceiling
the other to the floor

My actions scream for summits
peaks of my delight
climbing up the ladder
No longer is a fight

It seems so simple
to them, just to build the road
cutting through the wrong
and killing off the right
seeming big, acting small
millions stand, but none at all

Let the lies flow
like the blood down my back

Being so resistive
they all want to choose
fighting for their power
in their eyes, they don't lose

Below the above
Above the below
message of love
see how it flows

Not about to pascify
When did I ever want to to
anyway?
I don't need it
I act alone.

When you come around
stay away from me
I don't lead, I stray

Follow away.

Guess That Song! (Thanks to vintage x metal)

So, my good friend Saadia gave me this idea for a blog, and I thought it was really cool, so I decided to do it.  The result is the first UG chain blog.  Damn it.

Here are the rules:

Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 35 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Have people guess what songs they are.
Step 4: Bold out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is cheating

Here I go (P.S.: DO ONE OF THESE YOURSELF.  They're fun. :D)

1. Hey!  I'm your life, I'm the one who takes you there.
2. I still don't know what I was waiting for.
3. Who's gonna ride Bodacious?  Who's gonna take him down?
4. Thelonious my old friend, step on in and let me shake your hand.
5. They're starting to open the sky.
6. On a cobweb, afternoon in a room full of emptiness.
7. Hello, don't you know me?
8. Delusional, I believe I could cure it all.
9. You keep your riches and I'll sew your stiches.
10. There are no monks in my bed.

11. Psychic Spies from China try to steal your mind's elation
12. Look at that turtle go, bro.

13. Step right up, and listen please!
14. Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner
15. How would you feel, if I took you away.
16. Is there anyone who ever remembers,
17. Every Night I'm lyin in bead, holdin' you close in my dreams.
18. Hello again, seemed like forever between now and then.
19. Words are flying out like endless rain into a paper cup.
20. Deaf dumb and blind boy, he's in a choir.
21. Who wants the worry, the hurry of city life.
22. There's something strange going tonight.
23. We'll do it all, everything, on our own.
24. The fields have always changed you into wine.
25. About this planet, there is something I know.
26. Paint a picture forty shades of gray.
27. I've got myself in a masochistic hole.
28. Said the straight man to the late man, "Where have you been?"
29. How long must she stand before the ground gives way.
30. There's a shadow just behind me, shrowding every step I take.
31. Can you tell me why you're so uptight.
32. What I see is all I've seen
33. I'm in the sky tonight, there I can keep by your side.
34. I read the news today, oh boy.
35. Mother, mother ocean, I've heard your call.

Good luck.

Lyrics: Mayan, Pt. 3: Cassandrus

Part 3.  Sorry it took so long.  I actually have the whole thing written, I'm just too lazy to post them all.
-------------------------------------------------- -------------------
A parallel is forming thick
comforting my other side
draw me in and pull me under
to the sphere I think I know

Officer of law and reason
terminate your selfish sins
givings that are filled with burden
sooner my true heart must show

Back and forwards,
seven seas are growing up
Must I build a wall to cease them
stunt their growth and shake their being

I'm your enemy
Now and ever
permanent and insecure
You're doubt overrides my own

I'm in the cell
The cell of my own means
I'll wait here
until the sun sets
wait till I hear the screams
Then go back again

You don't know what it's like
You'll never know.

Lyrics: Mayan, Pt. 2: The Refugee

This is part 2 in my "epic(?)" poem, Mayan.  Comments and crit would be appreciated.

------------------------------------------------ -----------------------

Arrived
arrived at the field
of alien emotions
it's making so much sense

Getting deeper every day
swimming in the other way
Heaven knows the price you pay
for all of the destruction

Your actions belong on you
don't thrust them upon me and
wallow in our sadness
keep it, it's yours and yours alone.

If these morals ring true,
what will be of my life?
and If all these angels know the rules
is it really worth your fight?

Slip back
steal back
float back
while your wings haven't sprouted

Just enjoy your sanity
I'll be making mine

Through all the false deities
and all your selfish honor
I wish you safety
wish you harm

Into all the hatred
years killing of the meek
inherit the earth
with no alarms

The reality is clear
just wait and see the fear
My universe is coming near
to start of your destruction

Slowly close your eyes
I will open mine.
