I've gotta get something off my chest, it's been bugging me enough to write about it now....
Since the elections in my country a few days ago, the topic of politics is a hot one, irl and on UG. Numerous topics have already been started concerning the future of my country. I happen to think that's a good thing... as long as there is discussion, we will not be meek sheep lead to the slaughterhouse without a fight... so far so good.
HOWEVER, it's starting to be quite an annoyance when people ignore your argument, because they can't come up with a decent answer! After reading a bunch of arguments, I begin to understand most of my fellow countrymen/woman, are on the left side of the politics... which I must immediately add, is fine by me... we're a free country right
I am on the right side of politics... which means I am prone to having discussions with the "other side" That's ok! I like discussions, I find them energetic for the most part! BUT please please, when you "challenge" me and I come up with a decent answer that is then swept under the rug because of a lack of appropriate response, that's when I lose my respect for you!
Let's have discussions, I am more than willing to engage in them, but do me the honour of not ignoring me, when you can't handle what I say.
Because of a discussion running in the pit about the most sustainable form of energy for the future, I just have to get something off my chest. I've made my point in that thread, but since pit monkeys are blind, here it is for everyone to read when willing: my opinion about nuclear power:
"nuclear power as the most sustainable form of power?
Yes if produced properly it's a save plant which gives a generous source of power... but damn did anyone, anyone think about the waste you leave for the next 10 to 15 generations?
This shit isn't just radio-active for 50 years or a 100 years you're talking about thousands of years the waste needs to be kept from the environment (and I'm not just talking, stick it in a metal can en bury it) no complete storage facilities, completely sealed of from the biosphere we all live in.
If that isn't enough, the facilities also need to remain save from terrorists, need to be accessable in case a better way of waste disposal is found en need to be monitored... what are we doing??
There is a lot of discussion about if human kind will destroy itself... well rely on nuclear power too much and you will ruin the world you live in, the destruction of mankind will follow closely!
If anything in the future should be a clean source of power, it will be the opposite (besides all power derived from nature) fusion power... it's still a future dream, but I hope we get there before we destroy ourselves... "
For those of you who are not familair with the woman, please go to Youtube and search for Susan Boyle, I dreamed a dream.
She auditioned at Britains got talent and that's how she became famous.
What a woman!
I know most of you are metal and rock heads and I include myself among those ranks, but she totally blew me away.
Since her first audition, I watch her at least 30 times now and she is one of the very few performers who brings me to tears almost every time I hear her sing.
Apart from the song she sings (beautiful) and her voice (amazing) I am blown away by the strength and emotion she puts into the song. She believes with every fiber of her being in what she's singing and that touches me more then any performer I have seen in my life...
I know this is not something of life changing proportions, but I just wanted to share....
By this I mean, the new guitar I got for my birthday...
Don't get me wrong, she's my baby but she's giving me problems...
I want to play it every day, learn lots of songs, get seriously better in playing (finally after a year and a half of lurking around)... and become a extremely well known and respected guitarist in a band (so much for setting goals )
But.... (you knew there was a but) she's torturing me... The pains in my thumb joint are not fun.. I know she's telling me I'm playing wrong : but she's not telling me how to play right
