That isn't hard to accept, when you consider how expensive healthcare really is (A four night stay in a hospital that I had over the summer cost over $100,000, not including the tests. The tests I had racked up at least another $50,000. Fortunately, my family has a good health insurance plan.) These people cannot make it on their own, and it is the government's job to pick up the slack.

Republicans are not taxed more than Democrats. Obama's tax plan will only go back to what the Clinton tax plan, which gave us our longest economic expansion and age of prosperity ever. Furthermore, money taxed from the wealthy does not exclusively go to the poor; It goes to social programs that benefit both the poor and the wealthy. Lastly, a lot of people who are on welfare work full-time jobs. The Federal minimum wage is just so low that they cannot afford to live on it.
