Favorite bands :
The most difficult question for me. Even more difficult than "what's the meaning of life?".
I consider myself a very open-minded person, music-wise. I honestly enjoy almost everything: classical to death/black metal. It really does depend on the band/performer. I don't really like this Californian punk thing, whatever's the proper name, it's a bit to... boring to me. Instead, I like hardcore and classic punk. But that's just punk.
Though I can name a few bands that have, as they say, changed my life (though I myself am too cynical for anything to change my life).
Rammstein - my first heavy band. Whatever people say about them, they're still an awesome band. Before bashing them, try writing a Drop D riff as simple yet as powerful as any of Rammstein's.
Metallica - and no, it's not just because they're popular. I really consider myself a true fan, not some shallow kid.
Radiohead, Muse, Porcupine Tree.
This section really is the most difficult one for me so stay tuned until I update it properly :)
For now, just think of me as a fan of quality music, whatever the genre.
Favorite guitarists :
Matt Bellamy, Johny Greenwood (indeed, all 3 of the Radiohead lads), David Gilmore, James Hetfield
Nothing much. Started playing guitar a couple of years ago and first took lessons but never really gave a damn back then, so I learned nothing. But then I got my first electric guitar (summer 2006) and started teaching myself properly. So technically I've been playing guitar for less than a year as of today, but that's just a good excuse for being crap, I guess. Nevertheless, I consider myself intermediate, taking into account my decent knowledge of theory - an area often neglected by young guitarists. There's still a lot to learn and UG has helped me a lot, even back in 2004 when I was taking lessons but never really cared.
So I'm among the old UG-ers, therefore, but I've lost my 2003-2004 (or whenever the forums were set up) profile, so technically I'm only a September 2006 user. Who cares anyway.
I've also a got a band, we're trying to do something cool and I wanna try to take advantage of the not-so-flourishing Russian music scene (of course, it's not true and we have tons of great bands here, but I like to think otherwise).
