Guess the song.

vintage_x_metal's game idea has spread. :p

Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 35 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Have people guess what songs they are.
Step 4: Bold out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is cheating

Linux :D

Current mood: geeky

So I finally got Linux fully working on my laptop, and decided it was a blog-worthy achievement :)

I'd been planning on doing this over the holidays anyway, but then Windows flipped out on me completely and so the decidion was made doubly easy.

I tried this once before in the summer, and ended up accidentally wiping my hard drive  So this time I made sure everything was backed up on an external hard drive (320GB, 50 from dabs, great deal :)) then tried a few different Live CDs (Ubuntu, Fedora, PCLinuxOS were my favourites) I eventually decided to install Fedora 8, and after partioning my laptop's hard drive installed Fedora on a 20GB partition, leaving my Windows partition intact and with a little free space, should I decide this was all a big waste of time.

Had some problems getting my wireless working [s]properly[/s], but after a few reboots, several hours browsing the fedora forums and a nice tutorial on www.linuxwireless.org I got there :)

I can't fully get rid of Windows until Sony decides that non-Windows users are allowed to use their mp3 players too; and probably wouldn't anyway. I will probably wait a couple of weeks and then rezize the partitions so that the Linux one is the bigger one, but my external hard drive has plenty of free room to play with just now.

Christmas was nice too, ate too much, didn't drink enough and have a nice new record player which connects to my laptop, so no nicking my flatmate's one anymore :)

Update: Finally got around to getting VirtualBox working properly, and I can now run Windows as a virtual machine from within Linux, meaning I can:

A. Use my mp3 player without booting into Windows.
B. Get rid of that Windows Partition
