The best Bands in the World

This blog will be about my favourite bands, their best songs and a Youtube link to that song(s). I Will post one every 2 or 3 days until I run out of Ideas.

June 3rd 2012

My top, number 1 band is Pink Floyd. Founded in 1965 by original members, Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wright and Syd Barrett they began in London's underground music scene. However their popularity grew rapidly leading them on to become one of the most financially successful bands in the world. Releasing two of my Favourite albums, Another Brick in the Wall and Dark Side of the Moon. My favourite songs being Another Brick in the Wall and Money.

Another of favourite bands, in contrast to the first, is popular Metal band Slayer. Credited as one of the top four Metal bands along aside Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax. Relatively select group of listeners but still hugely popular. My favourite album being Reign in Blood and song being Angel of Death both of which were very controversial releases (The album and the song).

Cool gear I have come across

June 1st 2012

I have a bit of  a thirst for musical instruments and in particular bass guitars so I am going to list one new instrument per day which I have discovered and with it a link for more info. To start off today I will put the first up which is:

The Warwick Vampyre NT, a really nice bass that has five strings and a distinctive build to the body. On these guitars you can also get mother of pearl or paua abalone inlays of everything from skulls to pot symbols.

Feel free to give comments on this instrument or any which you would like to see up here.

June 2nd 2012

Today's Instrument is going to be the ever popular Gibson Les Paul, a guitar classic which has been salivated over since the late 50's. Though it almost went out of fashion it has remained at the top of its game. Providing a stunning sound for guitarists across the world.

The instrument that I am going to show you today is the Gibson Twin-Neck, first owned by Frank White in the U.K. it took 2 years for them to build it and ship it over. Costing as much as a terraced house back then it was a beauty of a guitar. Containing both a six string and a twelve string neck it had huge versatility.

This morning I am going to tell you about the Hofner Violin Bass, most famously played by the Beatles it is a stunning Bass both Aesthetically and practically, though an odd shape it has really enlivened the spirit for guitar and bass manufacturers all around the world.

Feel free to give comments on this instrument or any which you would like to see up here.

Sorry there was a bit of a delay so I am going to post for today and the other two.

June 5th 6th & 7th 2012

The first one is the Warwick Triumph, one of Warwick's less sensible instruments it is an upright, electric, fretless bass. Quite an oddity, similar to a double bass but missing several pounds of wood.

The second is the Hofner President, one of a rare breed as it is a hollow body electric bass, not to be confused with an acoustic-electro bass. Gives a really nice undulating tone largely due to the wood and shape of the body.

And to end this trio is the Yin and Yang bass by Fodera which features a corresponding pattern on the body, to my knowledge a relatively hidden brand of guitars but this bass is definitely an item of discussion.

June 8th 2012

Today's instrument is the Ozark 'Frailer' open-back five string banjo, it makes a great, clean versatile sound an is a great instrument for beginning Banjo players.
