New short story in progress. Opinions of what I ha

Current mood: bored

Well, this is a new day. A new start and a new beginning for me..

Today was the day of reckoning. The day that nations all over the globe would live peacefully. Until theplaguesstruck. The plagues that killed entire cities. Nations fell to the plagues. Men, women and children suffocating with their arms around their necks and their faces turning blue..

Some call out that it was aconspiracyby the American government to destroy whatever nations that they needed oil or weapons from. But I... I know the truth.

I was there when the Day Of Reckoning happened. When fire and death rained down from the sky. When theplaguescaused the whole earth to stop at a standstill. When the electricity stopped. The whole world could not cope. People walking around aimlessly as if they had nothing to do anymore because they had seemed to be magnetically attached to their phones or devices or whatever they had on their person and every electrical device on earth just stopped.

The plagues and The Day Of Reckoning were just beginning...

I've not written a blog for ages!

Not written one of these for ages. Bit bored, I can't wait for next week though because I'm seeing my wonderful, amazing, beautiful, funny, perfect, pure, gorgeous Amy. Can't wait. I can sense a few Jamming sessions going on and me teaching her about a few things about the guitar.. Like Pups, floyd's, body wood. And all the knowledge that I have has come from everyone on UG. So Thanks guys.

Album Review: Neonfly EP

As I'm bored I will be starting to write album reviews on albums that I have been recommended. I know there's a review section for that kinda thing, but I felt that writing blogs would be better for me because I can find them easier and a lot of music I find won't have reviews or people wont have heard of the bands I find.
Anyway, Neonfly a Power Metal band who credit "Judas Priest" "Helloween" and "Iron Maiden as influences for their sound and all three of them come across in the opener titled "Reality Shift" there is nothing technically amazing or incredibly about this song but it works together nicely, the chorus "I wish I could see the world I have painted" is an incredibly catchy melody with vocal harmoniesblazingabout the place. The drumming is just the bog standard double bass pedal. But does some really nice almost George Of The Jungle type stuff with the toms.

The guitar's sound really clean and the recording is good quality for an EP.

Nice track with a nice break from theassaultof everything else around 2;46.

Nice track 8/10

Second track: Broken Wings.

This is a track on the EP that I am not really that keen on. It comes across with a great blaze of opening of guitar's,drums and vocals and surprisingly an organ in the background. This is the bad point of the track though. The chorus is amazingly cheesy and the vocal melody (not the vocalist's voice) annoys. The lyrics for the chorus sound like they have been written in a very short space of time "Rise above the ashes don't be afraid to stand and face the masses" it sounds like a bit of sixth form poetry.

The problem I have with all these songs is yes they are good but the bass seems to be following the guitarist round all the time with no real sense of creativity with the basslines. Which is a shame, because he's a talented guy.
7/10- if it wasn't for that chorus 8/9 out of 10

Track 3:I Think I S A UFO.

Overallthe second best track on this EP (first going to Ship With No Sails)

With a silly lyrical theme about a seeing UFO's and alien abduction. Neonfly start to show their sense ofhumour. (much like Helloween on Pink Bubbles go ape, Heavy Metal Hamsters anyone?)

Like the first two tracks the assault is still there and it works really well and does not getoverbearingunlike a lot of metal album I have listened too (Ascendency, Hate Crew DeathRoll, Death Mag- Pathetic) the songs are still catchy the line "I think I saw A UFO" is sung in such a way that makes me think that the vocalist was on something to make him think he HAD seen a UFO.

Second last track on this EP "Gonna Shoot You Right Down" is one I usually skip. Starting off with a guitar solo that's very reminiscent of some of the solo's played by Tipton/Downing. The vocals for this arereminiscentof Metal God RobHalford. For the first time on the EP I've heard the bass playing something slightly different to the guitars. Well done there!

5/10. Leastbearabletrack on the EP.

Last track the unforgettable "Ship With No Sails"

A change of pace for Neonfly. They slow down their heavy metal outpouring and play a song which could be considered a ballad.
the vocalist remindes me a lot of Timo Koltipletio from Stratovarius
here but without the warbling and the horrible accent.
The guitars are still bery clean, the drums are recorded very well and everything is good on this track. "How can we hide from yesterday" starts the pre-chorus and overall I feel the pre-chorus works just as good as the chorus "Hear the sound of thecrashingwaves and the wailing wind of a new day dawns" if not better. with a short ten secondacoustic
breaks up the piece very nicely. 10/10.

if you would like to hear Neonfly (who have just changed singer. For the better.) They're myspace is here. Awesome live band too

New Forum!

Hey guys, I would like to promote a forum which my friend Miriam (the Admin) made and I am a moderator on it. It's basically a forum where metal heads and other alternatives can hang out, chat and basically discuss things without being attacked by other non alternatives. Think Vampire Freaks but not as confusing lay out. I've borrowed a couple of idea's from UG such as the Pit's "Only Religion Thread" etc.

Hope you guys check it out. Cause I'm very, very excited about this and I thought a little promotion couldn't hurt. :-)

Omnomnom Bloodstock 2010 and other crap.

Current mood: ecstatic

Here I am bored in my bedroom and writing up a blog for your reading pleasure. Or just for the cringe-worthyness of my writing style. Anyway. Moving on.

This is my first blog since Bloodstock 2010 and what a blast it was. Seriously, I've never seen so many drunk people who weren't kicking the living daylights out of each other in all my life and that made me think about alcohol and people in general, the only bit of violence that was drink influenced I heard about was the bin jousting but that was up in another camp site. So that didn't concern me much.

I still don't understand why a bunch of drunk, viking-esque people don't get violent over a few drinks. They just get loud. Unlike the general population who seem to get violent. Well in my experiences in Newcastle and Whitley Bay late at night. If any-one has an answer to this please send me a postcard cause I haven't got a clue what's going on.

Anyway, I tell you the truth. If it wasn't for a little blonde girl called Rebecca I would NOT have made it out of Bloodstock alive. Especially with this drunk guy... When I say drunk I meant to say almost incapacitated. He came up to me and said "do you want to play a game?" and here I was at this time looking around as if he could have been talking to someone else (plus I was looking for Rebecca. At this point I lost my tent and she offered to come and help me look for it) and this drunk guy continued on and said "it's called" *insertominousmusic here* "box on head" thank God Rebecca managed to find me and pull me away from this person otherwise I wouldn't have survived that one night. To be honest, I still never found my tent but her being there was enough to keep me happy for a bit.

To be honest though yeah going to see Children Of Bodom. Fear Factory and numerous other bands throughout the weekend was really, really cool. But a couple of things made my weekend. To be honest and those events I can't remember every little detail but here is the first one.

I was just randomly rambling enjoying the bright moonlight gazing up at the stars... Sorry what? No that's not how it started off. But it could have started like that.

I was randomly walking past this Viking reinactment as soon as Zocalo had finished (great band. Check them out) to get my phone which was charging at the time and I hear a little voice shouting "Andrew" and I was is that the wind? or is that someone looking for me. I forget about this and get my phone and go back outside to this Viking reinactment. They weren't there when I got back. So I just shrugged it off as the wind.

Then a couple of hours later I am randomly walking through the over priced fairground on my way to the German CD tent (which IS AWESOME, could spend thousands in there) and I hear this voice which says "I THINK I KNOW YOU!" yes they talk like Death from Discworld. and I turn around looking bemused in my Andyish way and it takes me a good few seconds to process this statement and they fire a question at me and they ask "does your name begin with an A" I thought at this point I had an obsessed stalker on my hands. So I precede to look at them strangely and then they say " I know Rebecca" and here I am still bemused and I didn't remember who Rebecca was and by this moment I've already said my name does begin with an A and they said "She's been looking ALL over for you, she's kinda shy though" and I just finally twigged. Now I could have gone all rambo on her and asked her where she was but instead she randomly grabbed me and started to take me to her. We didn't talk though because her mother was about and my phone went off (well done father of mine. Perfect timing per usual.)

Then her friend rings me at like midnight and says "I have someone that wants to speak to you" and I was like "a magic mushroom" but no it turns out it's Rebecca. We talk on the phone for two hours (Because I was bored) and then I tell her I can't find my tent and she comes from her campsite just to help me find my tent AND the first thing she does when she see's me is give me a huge hug like she's not seen me for years. I was like woah, who are you?

This was the first time we'd met.

Facebook is an amazing tool.

Can't remember what the second event was, but I think it involved beer, singing and Klingon esque chanting and more singing and more beer. Good night though. It was to keep people from setting fire to my tent too.

Not going next year though because she seems to like me and I've told her I'm with someone but she seemed to have forgotten. Oh well.

Band's I've seen

Just come back from Bloodstock 2010. To be honest, it's the best festival ever! lots of beer, metal and the lovely Rebecca (dragged her from Asgard to help me find my tent. She offered. Love her for that :D) and no sleep. Perfect and I lost my tent too, I couldn't find it once I put it down. So I have decided to write a list on Bands I have seen altogether and yes I am bored, alphabetical order as usual.

Children Of Bodom
Dragon Force (x2)
Fear Factory
Glamour Of The Kill
Hospital Of Death
Iron Maiden
Ross The Boss
Sonata Arctica
Twisted Sister

Think this is it, but I am really tired so I can't remember! I'll update it if more are remembered!

Oh dear.

Current mood: crappy

:angry:The band is in trouble AGAIN was rehearsing for a show yesterday and we are playing on friday and I find out that they cant play one of our songs. So i'm like "why didn't you practice?" "I didn't know the song" and I Was thinking at this time. We have played the song live, why the hell didn't you tell me that you couldn't play it, so I could help you. *fumes*

All aside though, I feel like sleeping I was up till two o clock in the morning arguing with some fake baptists, what a funny argument that was. Gives me practice on when people on christian sites start flaming me!

Got a practice tonight and it better go well. I'm even bringing my television remote along so I can do the little telvision remote trick.

God bless \m/
