My Upcoming Guitar Related Purchases...

Man... First year in college. It sucks to begin... but I still have to keep on going with my love of guitar and gears. Being an unemployed fulltime college student sucks. I can't work!!! I'm finding a way around it though. Building pedals for people who can't afford boutique effects. :) i'm the middle of mass produce crap pedals and boutique pedals (cuz i can't say my pedals are totally boutique...). So I got everything planned out!!!

I'm all ready for my next purchase probably on monday, for my new neck!!! I'll buy from Musikraft, a '50s headstock strat neck!!! Flame Maple one piece skunkstripe construction, with a Clapton V neck profile and 7.25"-9.5" compound fretboard radius. I'm seeking this neck will solve my problem with the ABNORMAL high action on my strat, because i get buzz at my 8th fret. This better be a cool investment of $360ish...

This winter, I'll be on a trip to Japan, my home country. It should be a cool trip cuz: 1. i get to meet my grandparents, and that is $$$. 2. i'm gonna buy my MIJ Strat!!!!!!!!!! I've heard enough about MIJ strats. Their quality control is superior to american made ones, and i cannot let this opportunity go. I'm getting one. this is like $500? yea. MIJs are good quality but really cheap. good deals!!!

Along the line I'll be building a guitar not from scratch, but gathering parts for cheap. Probably the old neck coming off my strat would be used for the neck, and I might buy a Humbucker routed Telecaster body or something. I want a guitar with humbuckers. I can't keep on playing ZZ Top kinda gritty music with chimey single coils... they're great but not for this purpose. Still thinking on the pickups and such.

AMP!!! I'm gonna buy a Fender blackface. That's for sure. I'm not sure if I want a reissue or a vintage... Vintage is pricey compared to 5150s and JCM800s, since they're not QUITE vintage yet. pre '65 blackface are pretty darn pricey on eBay... But i was still blown away by the Custom Vibrolux Reissue I played at Guitar Center... That amp is insane. I'm dying need for it.

Pedals!@!@ I'll probably start making prototypes of various pedals as I go through college and getting money from doing random jobs. Im thinking to build: an A/B/Y box, another wah with set values, not adjustable, chorus (maybe), non germanium treble booster, fuzz, buffer on a wah, etc. I want to build a lot. but i know i'm forgetting some on this list. :D

Yes, this blog is basically me expessing my GAS on gear right now. but if you don't like it, don't comment on it. If you like it though, please comment on it. :D i'm sure there are lots of people wanting stuff like me. so lets share our GAS!!!

nice man. ur GAS is so much more expensive'er than mine hahaha. but the AC30s and JCM800s are godly. the Ibanez Tubescreamers have dodgy bypass. i'd go with maxon. don't change the pickups right when u get the rickenbacker though!!! u gotta enjoy it stock first :D

I just ordered my neck. it should be here in 6-8 weeks. yay!

Well the Rick comes with the toaster tops stock. And I just need a good Tubescreamer, something to drive that AC30. I'll never get that JCM probably, this is just my wishlist kinda.

amps: vox ac30cc1 with maybe weber blue bulldog or eminence red fang (if i dont like the speaker/have too much money - wont happen thus:P), tweed champ (weber kit)

pickups: swineshead condor for my epi LP classic

pedals: OCD clone (gonna build one), rangemaster (build too), Deluxe Memory man, maybe holy grail if i feel like the champ is lackin reverb, POG (cooool thing)

1. Guitar: I'm (hopefully) getting a Gibson SG in a couple of weeks time :D

2. Amp: After that I hope to save for either a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe or a Vox AC30

3. F/X Pedals: Maybe an EH POG and/or a good Reverb/Delay pedal for Led Zepp or Floyd-y stuff

4. Guitar: Either a Fender Strat or Tele, love 'em both (I'm not some Gibson elitist ;) )

And then...I'll be the most contented guy ever :p:

crank the AC30, les paul or an SG through it with the bridge pickup, volume all the way up with the amp's bass turned all the way up. thats claptone from "The Beano". :)

ECwomantoneman wrote on Nov 25th, 2007 3:51pm

I actually got a Gibby Les Paul instead.....:D

...so after I save for going to Paris with my mates in the summer I'll be saving for the valve amp....

ECistheBesta wrote on Nov 26th, 2007 4:21am

sexy. :D

crank it and turn up the bass, using ur bridge pickup right? :D

ECwomantoneman wrote on Dec 9th, 2007 7:44pm

Yeah, and when you rock the pedal you hear me rockin' the pedal...

I've seen that EC interview too - shows how amazing he is, that even when he's high as hell, he can play a fair bit :D

ECistheBesta wrote on Dec 10th, 2007 12:57am

yea. his playing is so smooth in that interview.

SugarRush66 wrote on Dec 30th, 2007 1:54pm

Guitar - Fender Tele. Can't decide between MIA and CIJ though
Speaker - Eminence Lil Buddy, but I can't find ANYONE that ships this to Scotland >:(
Pedals - Skreddy Mayo Fuzz, Ernie Ball Volume, SubDecay Liquid Sunshine OD and maybe one of your fine RAT clones :D

quote

ECwomantoneman wrote on Dec 30th, 2007 9:27pm

Though actually EC, I may scratch that whole Vox AC30 idea - my uncle has this old valve amp of my dad's that he secretly nicked off him but doesn't use it any more so he said he's give me it...only thing is, right, it's a late 60's/early 70's 50watt Marshall Plexi :D....so if I do get that, my next purchase is just gonna have to be a Marshall 4x12 cab....:D:D:D

Oh My God, the whole Cream-iness/Hendrix-iness/Allman-iness of it all is giving me insomnia...
