I walked into my local music store, just to browse around and buy some guitar strings. I was looking at acoustics, nothing special. They didn't have any 12-strings available, except one that was on lay-away. Not like I'm really in the market for new gear at the moment.
And I'm looking at the amps just because I couldn't help it. There was a ValveKing halfstack that just looked too tempting, and right next to it a 6505 212 combo and a halfstack, and some other Peavey. And across the aisle: A used ValveKing 112 for $295!
I'm considering possibly selling my Blues Jr. to help pay for the ValveKing, but I don't know. I'm leaning towards keeping the Fender, just because I heard the ValveKing's cleans aren't as good, and the Blues Jr. is loud enough for what I need.
I think when I get a job, and maybe a band and actually start gigging and stuff, I'll invest in another amp. I would much rather keep the Blues Jr and buy another amp for gigs, keeping it for just practice and stuff. I think I'll buy a PA before that, and then some sort of digital recording device...
I played a Valveking in Guitar center and I didn't really find the tone on it to my liking.
Not impressed at all.
It was muddy no matter how much I played with the EQ.
Maybe the tubes were worn on the one I tried, though?
Either way, I'd keep the blues until you can buy a sweet tube amp, rather than a mediocre one.
