Currently working as a sound engineer, music journalist, private instructor, and music business analyst. Graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in Legal Studies/Music in May 2007 and attended Berklee College of Music (2003-2005) with a focus in Music Business & Songwriting.
Principal instrument is drum set (11 years) followed by guitar (8 years). Have played in a variety of ensembles such as rock bands, cover bands, acoustic duos, orchestras, and session work (primarily film scoring sessions). One of my major college projects was writing and producing a Children's Music CD which I am currently seeking publication. Samples can be heard at: www.soundclick.com/adamdurham
I also have a background in radio. In high school for 3 years, I worked at a 3 radio station broadcast company (Bay Broadcasting) as a programmer where I programmed setlists into a computer and also operated live remote broadcast. In college, I was a DJ at the campus radio station (WXSU) but left when I was turned down for a Music Director position. Currently, I am one of the sound engineers for an in-studio performance show at the radio station located at the nightclub I work at (WOCM). www.livelixx.com has some of my mixing samples.
While attending college, many professors started using my papers as examples on how to write in classes. They would often use them as an example of good transitions and creativity to present an idea. I started taking more classes in the English department on editing, so I had an "Unofficial" minor in Business Writing. I use the books "Elements of Style", "Grammar Sucks", "Style: 10 Lessons in Clarity and Grace", and the "APA style manual" extensively. In addition to UG, I write for a local music promotions company. I started writing for UG when I noticed the lack of Music Business columns available on the website.
My dream music job is to be a manager for a well-known band or a music attorney. Have also been considering writing a book on managing your own rock band as well as a method book for my guitar and drum set private instruction lessons.
I'm looking to find a new music job and relocate. Applying to law schools in the Fall and considering doing a Masters of Entertainment Business in the meantime.
I have "Erdo's Numbers" to: The Gin Blossoms, Skid Row, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Dixie Dregs, Dream Theater, Wayne Newton, The Temptations, Cameo, Evanasence, Breaking Benjamin, Donavan Frankenreiter, Van Halen, The Allman Brothers, etc.
