Is it wrong to hate Scensters and Hipsters

Well, to begin. I will explain my hated for emo and indie scensters.

I love emo and indie, this is no secret. I listen and love probably many if not most of the same bands that the die-hardest of scensters love. So, there we share common ground. When they loose me is with their fucking scene.

I am who i am, i am multifacted. Although i love the music i listen to and i feel it very much represents me, it does not define me. I dress very simply, i do not put a lot of thought into image. However, these scensters put so much time and thought into an image that they believe will convey to people that their music defines them, by dressing as an advertisment, as if to say "hey look at me, i listen to HIP music. Also, you can probably tell my by tight-ass jeans, clever vintage shirt, black square framed glasses or assymestrical black dyed haircut that you probably have never heard of half the bands I listen to."

i mean, i dont object to dressing nice or putting thought into an outfit or even being part of something., but these people 24/7 feel they must be ontop of the most obscure bands, and listen to them infront of everyone, and let everyone know that "hey, im listening to a new Mercury Rev LP that i got at Amoeba Records that cost 30 bucks." All of this done thru what has been defined to the higher ups in the "scenster echelon" as being HIP.

i listen to what i listen to because i like how the music makes me feel, not because i like the way other ppl feel about my listening to it. these people are so exclusive as well, in the sense that they "exclude" other people, and look down on ppl their dont feel are WORTHY of their attention. It all makes me pretty sick. Its like, if you go to some trendy record store, you know what kinda people your gonna find working there. not because they are best at the job, but because they convey a certain "image," which is in itself a form of descrimination against ppl who might do a better job at selling records. Just watch High Fidelity, Jack Blacks character says it all. I can always feel myself being judged and analysed as I walk around in these record stores. Their eyes tell me since i dont fit the perscribed image of the kinda music i like, I must not have any idea at all about that GOOD music is.

ok, tell me what you think...thanks
