Interests
Favorite bands :
I'm not really a fan of much metal, but some of my favourite bands are Alter Bridge, Trivium, Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. Not completely metal, but close. I've started to develop a love for Prog Rock ever since I got into Pink Floyd a few years back. I love Newton Faulkner. One of the many wonders influenced by guitarists like Eric Roche and Thomas Leeb. Great songwriting and great vocal and guitar skills! I'm also into some of the lighter parts of Rock like Pop Rock/ "Pop Punk" bands like New Found Glory; there's not many Pop Punk I can get into not a fan of the singer but I suppose that's a Punk feature and musically overall I enjoy it. The Academy Is... Aren't a massive band, but they had some nice Pop tunes a few years back, their second album 'Santi' had a really good Rock n' Roll Indie vibe. Jimi Hendrix music is just one of the many wonders of life to me. He had a real attitude onstage which I loved and he just seemed so genuine!
Favorite guitarists :
Jimi Hendrix- I love Jimi Hendrix not only for his guitar skills, but also for his character. Like I said in the above, he appeared to people as a genuine human being as oppose to a vast majority of artists where you get the feeling they're fake. He'd also show that characteristic onstage, he's guitar playing isn't the smoothest in the world he does quite a lot of bum notes and even shows it in his recordings! That's an honest musician! Steve Vai is a favourite of mine. He's extremely intelligent (which may well be thanks to Satriani) and his guitar style is just so weird and wonderful. It seems jazzy at times and it seems awkward, but everything just flows brilliantly and he is a fantastic guitarist despite how he may appear onstage! Mark Tremonti and Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge are a great guitar duo. Tremonti has that great Metal/Blues and Myles digs so deep into notes it sounds emotional for example his huge aggressive vibrato bends! Newton Faulkner is one of those tappy types but I'd say one of the more mainstream ones. However he's got so many tricks up his sleeve, he just likes to serve them up in small doses. Can't blame him for that! XP Matt Heafy from Trivium is an awesome Metal guitarist! I'm not too into shred, but when it comes to it, Heafy does it for me and I really like his guitar tone.
Favorite bassists :
I feel that Brian Marshall from Alter Bridge doesn't get enough credit. You rarely see Bass players that use their fingers anymore! I don't get it, what happened? Victor Wooten! I love him and his bass guitar :P. Mark King from Level 42! Cheesey band but you've got to be impressed with his ability to sing and slap-a-de-bass!
Favorite books :
Slash.
