Harmony.Korine wrote on Mar 15th, 2009 11:43amI just realised how extreme that rant was. Sorry if I bore you, its just I could talk about Incubus all day. I just hope they've still got it in them. Mike will as always. I'm sure Ben will. Jose probably will. Brandon will be at least passable if not great. Fuck knows what Kilmores up to but if what I've heard about him, it sounds like hes doing less turntabling and more playing, which is definitely good.
And yea Sick Sad Little World is one of my favourite Incubus songs. Never had the honour of seeing them live, but I have the Red Rocks DVD where they do their SSLW jam and its pretty dam exciting.
Again, sorry if I bore you with my opinions. quote |
Harmony.Korine wrote on Mar 15th, 2009 11:43am(cont.) After their break they made ACLOTM and he had this new angst and fire presumably from relationship break-up and the whole Katunich situation etc etc. Then came Light Grenades. I was going holy crap Mike and Jose have seriously got their shit together they sound amazing, but Brandon sounded (only in places) a bit dry. Like Love Hurts, Earth to Bella, Diamonds and Coal (Rogues, Pendulous Threads, Dig and Anna Molly were still amazing). Despite all this, he remains one of my favourite rock vocalists, its just... well lets just say I'd be very impressed if he had any more growth in him. I can't imagine he can ever match Make Yourself. I guess thats a problem with being a vocalist. Whilst Mikey can continually work on his skills and write more intricate parts, Brandon will always be restricted by his emotions. quote |
Harmony.Korine wrote on Mar 15th, 2009 11:42amI think you're right, I have a feeling Brandon has just got to a stage where he's happy with where he's at, and doesn't have much to put into his lyrics. Or at least I thought that with LG. When I heard the songs Make Yourself and The Warmth, I, just like you, kind of saw it as a new outlook and a bible in a way. When I heard Morning View (particularly the songs 11a.m, Mexico, Echo and J.A.P.) I was amazed that he'd started writing these beautiful lyrics and everything was... almost perfect imo (except Warning, imo worst Incubus song). quote |
Harmony.Korine wrote on Mar 9th, 2009 12:11amIts a pity but in a way about Dirk but Ben is kinda important for their growth is a band. Its kinda creepy how "Dirk" just disappeared though. From what I've gathered what you were saying about Dirk being more interested in the funk stuff is right, but I think he also largely refused to write material for songs like 11a.m. because he didn't like that stuff so Mikey ended up writing his parts for him. Dunno if thats true or not. I also gathered (somehow) that he used to make fun of Brandon's lyrics because they were a bit - sappy (I actually agree sometimes, he goes too far) but that isn't OK and if this i the case then its good they got rid of him. Anyway, I loved ACLOTM, and parts of Light Grenades, but I just don't think they will ever get the perfection of songs like The Warmth, Clean, 11a.m, Just a Phase, Vitamin, Redefine. But then again, I still love them and it will be interesting to see how Mikey's studies will benefit the band, and to see how they grow and change this time. quote |

Haha, no, I haven't seen the love letter videos. But I'm pretty much obsessed with anything Incubus, so you can guarantee I'm going to look them up right now. And while we're trading Incubus videos, have you seen that radio interview with the "Rich and Toucher" show? Mike and Brandon totally destroy these incompetent radio personalities, it's a blast every time I see it.
| Ahaha is that the interview where the dude is completely off his face and Mike and Brandon completely destroy him with sarcasm. Thats so classic.
Anyways I assume you've watched the love letters by now, it's pretty exciting to think they're working on some new stuff soon, I love those guys. Anyway, I want to see a resurrection of Dirk Lance, or just Alex Katunich in general because althought he might have been a dick in person, he wrote some sweet stuff.

Found your covers to be great quality, and musically accurate! I'm a really big fan of the Foos, so those covers really impressed me, despite not being technically too hard...but you got the feel of the songs! All instruments are great, my only complaint is that there are some off rhythm parts between the instruments sometimes, but hey, these are way better sounding covers than i could do, especially to be so accurate on the drums. |
Well thank you very much for your kind comments Dirklance. I'm still a novice at recording and suffer badly from 'Red Light Fever'! As soon as its recording I'll mess up something so I kind of have to make compromises in certain areas or I'd never get anything finished lol! I think your referring to All My Life with the Gm part when two guitar tracks are out of sync. I should re-do some of them really.
Thanks again!

Yeah...it sucks. Incubus is on hiatus because they all have different things to focus on...I think Mike and Brandon are going to college to study music theory and art, respectively. Ben makes great solo music! If you haven't heard Eulogy by him, look up a video split into four frames that shows him playing every instrument, it's great.
Jose is having a child and Kilmore will probably do solo work as well. So...they might be out for awhile. Which is devastating to me, personally, with also hearing about breaks for The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Foo Fighters. | Yea, saw Eulogy ages ago, good song indeed.
Have you seen Mikey and Brandon's love letters video yet? Two crazy mofos.
So sounds like we may hear them again next year. The wait is killing me, but as always I will survive. Nice username btw.

Hey, thanks for your comment on my Gives You Hell tab. I will try out your reccomendation for the intro, I am a true believer that there are many ways to play the same thing. No way is exactly right, but some are more right than others.
That intro is a keyboard though, so it's a tad difficult to say exactly how to transcribe it into guitar. But the possibilities are endless and I thank you for your time! |
hey man. i'm exactly the same way...when it comes to the idea that you can play many things different ways. I get comments on tabs all the time that are exacty the same notes but just played on different strings and it kinda bugs me because it's all the same anyway, but it's there if they think it's better to play it that way, then it's totally fine.
but as for the correction, i didn't mean to be picky or anything, but I guess that's just how I roll. I wish you luck in the future on your tabs and/or other contributions to UG.

chris_james wrote on Dec 11th, 2008 8:40pmThanks,
I add your name to my tab. quote |
chris_james wrote on Dec 8th, 2008 9:08pmApologies,
i can see why this is my fault and i probably should have told you first, ignore any crap thats in the previous message. Can i say that you did a good job on your mini solo (with the final notes being played as a slide) and i would like my name taken out of your tab because i think you've done a lot with it and is different to mine, however i will be happy to put your name in my tab if that will end this little dispute.
p.s. would you mind if i changed my solo to have the slide in it i have honestly just watched a video on their site and seen that it is played that way, check it out for yourself if you want, its called "gives you hell perfomance version" i think... quote |
chris_james wrote on Dec 8th, 2008 8:35pmWhat can i say? 1st, i was never bothered about having myself mentioned for "credit" in your tab and if you don't like it then please by all means take it out! My tab was incomplete so i decided to finish the parts so people dont waste their time looking at my tab and in the second verse i knew you hadnt got it right and when i watched it played live on youtube i could roughly see where it was played and i pulled it together, the 2 tabs do not sound the same. I admit that the only part i took ideas from your tab was during the bridge which is still slightly different. would you like me to put your name in the tab?
To be honest i dont see what the big deal is about, its only a frickin tab! (and mine kicks ass) quote |
chris_james wrote on Nov 25th, 2008 4:43pmHi,
i updated my gives you hell tab to try to make it more complete, i just wasn't satisfied with it. I watched them play it live on youtube and i picked up some of the other parts. What do you think?
i also posted a full Mona Lisa tab, check it out quote |
chris_james wrote on Nov 17th, 2008 8:59pmBy the way, if you like AAR, have you checked out my intro to Mona Lisa? Please rate it! quote |
chris_james wrote on Nov 17th, 2008 8:55pmThanks for the credit thing in your tab and a nice lead guitar bridge! Thanks! I could never get that! quote |
chris_james wrote on Nov 15th, 2008 1:21pmHey no worries about the Gives You Hell tab, you did a good job! I guess i was just annoyed at first when i saw the part of my tab used in yours, but even you've got to admit that it was pretty good solo tab from me in the first place, (even though it only lasts about 10 seconds). Its hard to get those extra little pieces when they're kinda distant sounding but you made quite an accurate tab, its just i prefer to play the song in different ways.
By the way; check out the pre-chorus in my tab and see what you think! quote |
guitarlad89 wrote on Nov 14th, 2008 8:08pmAll i'm saying is that Zep is a super group. Without one of their members they are not Zep. Without plant, it is just Jonesy, Bonzo, and Jason......and yes, thats what FANS call them as well....get used to it..... NOBODY can replace ANY of the members in Zep, past, present, or future. quote |
crazynickman wrote on Apr 5th, 2008 10:35pmNo problem; I don't know why I should even go into threads like that. But I am a Pit Monkey, after all.

Vermintide wrote on Apr 4th, 2008 4:31pmAlso, no need for the TL;DR rant man. I can't even make sense of it. Just chill, no hard feelings, mmkay? quote |
Vermintide wrote on Apr 4th, 2008 4:27pmYou rather missed my point. What I'm sating is you can't just define a border of child/adult. It's a gradual maturation; someone isn't suddenly an adult at a certain age.
In most places the laws have some leniency. It's only disgusting and wrong when the age difference is large, people have no problem with a 17 year old and an 18 year old coupling up. In contrast a 43 year old and a 17 ear old is hideous.
The laws have to be there for such cases, but there is always leniency. It's not black and white as you portray it. Anyway, I shall desist, I never even meant to start this debate. I was just trolling. quote |
