Ok, yay! Here comes another rant by me. Happy right? Yeah, that's what I thought.
Anyways,
so today at lunch everyone was kind of chilling as we always do. There
was about 20 or so of my friends and I and we were just talking about
random stuff. So one person brings up the topic of the 'Battle of the
Bands' and a few of us play instruments, and we talk about this for a
while, that that is where it all started.
So
basically I started talking about how I wish I could find a band that
was the same style as me because most of the people at my school are
metalheads. Most of them all listen to the same shit, Girls listen to
hip-hop and popular modern radio rock and the boys listen to metal.
Then they start ragging on me for my musical taste... Now, if you want
to get me pissed off, make fun of my music. For me, I think that this
is one of the most ignorant things that you can do. So they start
telling me how shitty my music is, telling me to start listening to
so-called 'good' music. Which brings me to a good question. Who
defines what good music is? The radio? Media? To some extent, yes. That
is for the people who listen to their music because Justin Timberlake
on MuchMusic told them that it was the 'cool' thing to do. That is like
asking, what defines beauty? To me personally, beauty is in the eye of
the beholder, it is whatever they like. Am I right? If you disagree
please tell me .
But that is the same with music right? Good music is what ever the fuck
I want it to be. Not you, not TV. Me! I decide what I want to listen
to, not you, so fuck off. I have used this same phrase countless times:
Music is all about opinion, mine might be different from yours. Does
that give you the right to harass me because of my tastes. That would
be like me coming up to you, and making fun of how 'ugly' your
girlfriend is. That is for me to keep to myself because how I portray
beauty is probably a lot different than yours.
Do you know why I listen to the music I do? I don't do it because it's the popular thing to listen to ( it most defiantly isn't
) I listen to it because it touches me. It speaks to me. I get inspired
because of it. It captures all my emotions in one godly song. Fear,
betrayal, trust, sorrow, happiness. The playing of the artists actually
mean something, they put emotion into their songs. Blues is just
something that I can't live without, no matter what other fucks want to
say about it.
I guess that, that wasn't really a rant, but the
moral of this story is this: "Don't force your opinions on other
people. They have theirs, you have yours. End of story."
So, it's this time of the year again. I'm off to my Grandma's place on the 23'rd where we stay right beside the ski hill. Snowboarding everyday! YES! I just wanted to wish you all avery merry Christmas or whatever the hell you celebrate, Hanukkah, Festivus (all you Seinfeld fans will know what I mean ), or whatever else there is. Happy Holidays. I get in 'shit' (or made fun of, if you will) from people for liking John Mayer. People think that John is just another old acoustic rock cliché
guy. If you want to knock ones band or talent please have some common
knowledge of who you are talking about. So to all of you who don't like
John because you have heard 'Waiting On The World To Change' or 'Your
Body Is A Wonderland' a few times on the radio, I advise you to listen
some of his blues stuff. He is almost up there with SRV, Hendrix, and
Clapton in my books. He is a modern god. He is keeping blues alive and
promoting it because blues has really been getting a lot less popular.
Just watch a couple videos on YouTube. Take some time to get to know
who you are talking about. And stop being so prejudice. Just another
rant of mine. Kinda short but whatever, I feel that I got the point
across. So please, if you are too lazy to search him up on YouTube, or
do not want to give him a chance, I will do the honors for you

Now, I really don't give a shit if you don't like my style of music, so stop giving me shit about it. (No not you! People at my school ) If you look through my collection (over 60 GB), you'll see a huge variety from, Punk to Metal to Blues to Jazz to Rock whatever the fuck it is, I don't want people bitching about what I have on my Creative. It's mine not yours, so fuck off. I listen to what I want. I always get people telling me that my shirts (Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, AC/DC, Metallica, BLS, Pink Floyd ect.) isn't good music and that the screamo/hard-core music is good. And they also say that Synther Gates or whatever can out shred SRV, well no shit Sherlock, SRV isn't a shreder hes a blues guitarist. Well, I have nothing against their kind of music, that's their choice and I don't give a shit about it, so leave me the fuck alone. It just pisses me off that someone of one style can bash someone of another, and that people now adays get seperated and judged by their style of music. I can see that if you are in a Blues band, you probably don't want some metal head come in and shred along in a totally different key, but just as friends, when people get judged by their music, thats gotta tell you something about how prejudice todays society is.
