Pantera Reunion????

Is it going to happen? Of course it would only be 75% of Pantera, but nonetheless better then nothing (RIP Darrell).
Here, I think this would be an ok lineup....
Vocals: Phil Anselmo
Guitar: Zakk Wylde
Bass: Rex Brown
Drums: Vinne Paul Abbot
Possible problems() could be: Phil....there is still issues between (Abbots vs anselmo), Zakk Wylde....already in 2 bands (Ozzy sucks now, he should quit).
So pretty much Phil somehow getting along.
Well, what do you guys think?:D
Feedback is appreciated!:wavey:

just aint the same without dime

petrucci_owns86 wrote on Dec 20th, 2007 6:30am

zakk is good, but dime is a god. it would still probably sound pretty good. as long as phil didnt kill vinnie paul onstage (or the other way around)

good blog

Thanks, and don't forget to rock on!! : peace :

Zofar wrote on Dec 31st, 2007 6:59am

The only problem I could see would be that Zakk rarely uses guitars with tremolos, making some of the guitar parts impossible to do.

Wait a minute, they woudn't just be doing covers of their old stuff, I meant if they were to CONTINUE the band. So 100% fresh material.

How 'bout "Rebel Meets Rebel"? That was basically PanterA with a different singer and additional guitarist. (Though David Allen Coe played minimal parts on the album -that's the rumor I heard, anyway) If it were to happen, though, I'd like to see them do what Alice In Chains did a couple years ago; tour with special guest singers. Anyone catch Phil singing "Would"? -Actually not too bad. I'd love to hear Max Cavalera, Randy Blithe, or even Corey Taylor covering some Pantera!!

jsik6 wrote on Jan 17th, 2008 8:28pm

I think it would be completely ridiculous to ask Vinnie Paul to ever have anything to do with Phil again, though. Forget that friggin' dude!!! He's all trying to tell the public that he was messed up on back-pain pills. Ummmmmm..... Right, dude. Nothing to do with with the white pony, huh? Bullshits, I say!!! I lost all respect for him after reading his interview in REVOLVER a year after the murder. He was all crying about how they took "his" guitar player away from "him", plus all the back-pain bulldink....... anyway, I'll stop before I fill up with rage..... (I could go on, believe me)
...Good blog, though

DiMeTiMea wrote on Jan 18th, 2008 1:21am

Yeah Phil's pretty messed up......
I watched a video of him on youtube about the murder and.....you know, it was like all bullshit.

Thanks for the kudo :p:!

Machine Gun Cat wrote on Feb 8th, 2008 10:07pm

I think that phil shouldn't be involved cause he wouldn't get on with vinnie but I reckon the killer vinnie paul-rex rocker combo should get back together maybe with the singer from damage plan and zakk wylde I don't think phil deserves a second chance after all the stuff he said to dime and breaking up the original Pantera but i think some sorta reunion thingy would totally rock!!!

petrucci_owns86 wrote on Feb 14th, 2008 8:48am

This would be good, but again: No Dime, no Pantera :D

And besides, if this were to continue, Pantera would suddenly have songs where every third note is a fuckin pinch harmonic. I don't mean to dump on Zakk Wylde, but he overuses the pinch harmonics.

DiMeTiMea wrote on Feb 15th, 2008 1:55am

I totally agree, and he absolutely rapes the pentatonic scale too......:p

Dimelives wrote on Feb 16th, 2008 10:27am

It would just be too weird to see all them.. and Then Zakk. But they would put on a good show though it probably wont happen.

supersolus666 wrote on Mar 1st, 2008 5:39pm

this isnt even possible because 1) vinnie is never going to talk to phil again and 2) NOBODY, not even zakk, can replace dime

Hellfire999 wrote on Mar 13th, 2008 3:48am

Just not as rawk-ness-ing (w00t! I made up a word!) as he (they) used to be :(

roast wrote on Apr 9th, 2008 5:58am

Never gonna happen.

Dimebagjeff wrote on Apr 21st, 2008 12:04am

i dont think theres any way possible of this happening, though it would be badass! but vinnie would never speak to phil again so thats where the problem is... good idea tho

DiMeTiMea wrote on Apr 25th, 2008 4:09am

Vinne has however been talking about a Damageplan reunion :D.
He mentioned the rest the band giving teh thumbs up :) - I don't know who'd play guitar tho.....

nolife'tilmetal wrote on Jun 24th, 2008 5:35pm

i agree with everybody... theres nothing more i can say...

Sabotage1 wrote on Jun 25th, 2008 10:01am

I believe that would be an insult to dimebag's legacy. Maybe one tribute show with his best friend Zakk Fuckin Wylde but not a complete reunion

DCarney9116 wrote on Jul 16th, 2008 8:43pm

Dude that would kick ass! No one could ever replace Dimebag, but Zakk Wyled would do a damn good job!

Or perhaps a tribute BAND, eh? Now that idea intrigues me. Still respectful, still rockin', yes, yes, do it! now! go!

Akoroon wrote on Nov 21st, 2008 12:36am

it would be pretty cool to have a band like that tour but IMO they shouldn't call themselves PanterA because it really isn't without Dime he was PanterA

Helloween_rox wrote on Jan 17th, 2009 2:10am

It just wouldn't work. Dimebag was too unique and honestly no one can imitate what he did. I prefer Zakk over Darrel, but he's still just as awesome.

Vinnie + Phil = nothing we want to see

This. R.I.P. Dime

JHC_DOH wrote on Dec 23rd, 2009 6:34pm

Hell yeah! Zakk isn't in with Ozzy anymore, and Phil and Vinnie aren't having any problems, last I heard. I never got to see them with Dime though, so I already missed out. This would be good enough though, as long as they played the entire VDOP album when they came to boston.

JHC_DOH wrote on Dec 23rd, 2009 6:36pm

Just read the fresh material part. I want my Kudos back. Not cool, man.

shmplowright91 wrote on Sep 7th, 2016 6:37am
