Well, I've been a part of the LPunderground for a while, and they've always been pretty cool about sending EP's and the like, and hooking up the members with all kinds of new stuff you can't get anywhere else.
But the other day, I got an unexpected email from the head of the network, asking if I were available for most of the day of the 29th (now, today). I didn't have anything planned, so I said sure. And it turned out that they selected about fifteen other people, and asked us all to meet up in front of the Warner Bros. Record building in Burbank (which wasn't too far, for me) for a free show. But we couldn't bring any cameras, and no guests, at 11:00.
When I got there, and so had everyone else, it turns out that in order to get there, we all had to get into two limos with blacked out windows, and we had to wear blindfolds for the whole drive so we wouldn't know where we were going.
Well it turns out that they took us to the band's private practice space, just us and a bunch of press people and guests (including Chris Cornell, I noticed) and they played a small set. I got to spend the show all of a few feet from everyone in the band, and they even had Busta Rhymes come out and do his new song that LP is in. There were a bunch of moments where Chester and Mike and Brad were right up in front of me, and it was insanely fun. They filmed the whole thing, and took a bunch of pictures, so I'll have to add those in when they get put up.
Afterwards, I got to meet Chris Cornell, Busta Rhymes, and everyone in the band. They were all super friendly and very nice, especially Busta. The man was a beast, especially compared to everyone in Linkin Park. After all the guys in LP signed my copy of M2M, he signed the back. I felt like a guitar nerd talking with Brad about his new PRS guitar (which kicks ass) and to Chester about singing and his forthcoming album and to Mike about what they're doing next after the summer tour. I also got some cool little stuff like Chester's bandana and one of Brad's picks. Chester noticed I was actually wearing the same brand of shirt that he was, and said I had nice taste, and we laughed. I don't think I've felt like this much of an over-excited fan in a long time (except for the time I met Children of Bodom and the guys from In Flames at Gigantour).
All in all, it was a pretty awesome day. Here's what I have so far, I'll update with the pics when I get them.
Oh, and I might get a job working for Machine Shop Marketing. So here's hoping for that.
