1 Fender Hot Rod Deluxe ~ £500? But I would appreciate an eBay price of £300...
2 A GuitarFetish MiM Tremolo for my Squier strat ~ £38 w/postage
3 Coldplay to crawl away and die
4 Now the interesting one - a) USA Big Muff Pi? b) Sovtek Big Muff Pi? c) Little Big Muff Pi? Cheaper
on the one hand, Sovtek sounds nicer, but you could turn down the amps treble with the USA maybe? The lil one is cheaper, the USA is the classic.... Then there's the English Muff'n and thats really expensive... Why do I have to be so poor!??!?
So the other day i read John Frusciante's exercise for brain and hands. then forgot it. Then checked it again. I think it works.... After that, whilst trying to sleep, at some other-worldly time of morning, i got a text from my band mate, Mr X, for legal reasons:
"Dya wanna prac 2moz?"
so i, being so gunked up with sleep and stuff, just chucked my phone across the room. Now I can't find it.
LESSON 1: never lose your phone when it is dark / you are actually living dead-like (especially when it is possibly a life changing text you just received.
Now I have decided the rest of this blog will be in the form of lessons from my mistakes.
So, the next morning, I got up, went to X's house and we practiced. well, we got bored after half an hour so spent the rest of the day in Dawson's. My longing for a decent guitar has shifted from a strat to an SG. Also, my godawful amp cuts out at anywhere near high volumes so I can't hear myself .....play. When I say cuts out i mean sort of like every 10 seconds it just turns OFF for about 5 seconds. doesn't sound like much but...
Meanwhile, X is thinking of band names.
The best he can come up with are: -lawful racket -the dictionaries
every five minutes he came up to me with new names. I have omitted the embarrassing ones.
LESSON 2: Never go to a music shop while your band mate thinks of names.
now i was looking for amps and stuff on t'internet and found some stuff. stuff being:
-an epiphone SG that is cheap as hell. -a sound city amp that is not quite cheap as hell. - marshall amps that are definitely NOT as cheap as even normal person surroundings.
X wants me to get an MG100 whatsit. What can i say? he's a drummer. he just doesn't understand these things.
So my ma phones and i get into a conversation about what i want to buy, and she says:
"well get an amp, because if you get a guitar you'll just have two guitars." as if i don't own an amp.
LESSON 3: never try to explain why you are buying things to your mum.
