New guitar!

Hey guys,

Ordered myself one of those Epiphone Tom Delonge signitures, I'm well excited. Got it from Andertons for £279.99, the delivery dispatch takes forever though! I'll get a review and pics up when I get it so to contribute some to the community!

Laters for now,

Anyone own a PS3?

Current mood: curious

As title, Does anyone own a PS3?

I'm thinking of getting one for this christmas, and i'd like to hear from people who have bought one. Is it as good graphics as they say? How different is HD gaming? What games can you recommend me? I'll be buying GT5 next year and probably pick up a Steering wheel for the racing games.

Cheers ;)

I'm free!

Current mood: relaxed

Thats right, i'm free from any warnings or bans :D Last time I leave my PC for 3 minutes in between posting :haha:

On a side note, i've just started getting back into the strat (must of been new stings making it feel nasty) but now it's fantastic. Quality matches an MIA I reckon, and i'm thinking about buying a Fender MIM for a strat or telecaster project.

Strat:

HSS style, rosewood fingerboard. Possibly in either black, white or chrome red. Right now i'm thinking Chrome red with Seymour duncan pickups and modifed: Tuners, CTS pots and Pearloid orTort scratchplate.

Tele:

Seymour duncan pickups, Chrome Red with pearloid scratchplate.

Bought a Seymour duncan SH-14 Custom 5

Current mood: happy

Ordered from the US on ebay, bargain at £45 delivered. It'll be going into my les paul, and from what the sound clips are like it should be ace.

I really like the low end on these pickups, so that why I chose on over an invader.

Fitted my new Strat electronics!

I finally got round to changing the electronics in my Fender 50's classic strat. It originally had the rough CTS ones that were pretty poor, they scratched and the volume pot wasn't even.

It took about an hour, this involved changing all the pots to CTS 250k, fitting the Sprague orange drop capacitor (0.047), all wire to waxed potted and insulated, MIA 5 way selector switch and MIA mono jack.

I got the parts about 2 months ago, but i've only had the strat for about 3-4 weeks and i've not changed the strings, which meant I didn't have any spares to replace these. As you may know, the strats scratchplate can really only come off when the strings are off.

It's going in for a set-up and restringing tomorrow, and won't be back till monday. So only then will I know if it's really worked or not, but I followed the SD diagram exactly so I don't see why not.

My Dad helped loads, which was good because it would of been quite difficult on my own to be honest. It took about an hour to do.

One problem I came across was when I tried to remove the high E and B strings. They were stuck in the tremolo somehow, I spent 20 minuted prodding it with screwdrivers and the like but it wouldn't budge. Ended up putting an Allan key in the hole and they both just fell out :wtf:

Well I wanted to update this for the folks that do bother reading it.

Signing off,

Daz

I've been warned!

Current mood: pissed off

Thats right, for posting in a reported thread. Can't say I wasn't in the wrong because I was, and i'm glad that the mods are doing their job. I've never been warned before, so hopefully this will be the last. I'm usually a very respected user of the forums and I want to keep it that way.

Anyway, respect to the moderators who make this experience on UG such a great community :golfclap:

Buying Pedal power

Current mood: happy

Well after doing some research for poweing pedals into the GB&C section of the ultimate guitar forums, I reached the point where I thought i'd be better off buying batteries for the rest of my life :wtf:

On the off chance I went to Maplins, a UK store for electrical componants. While walking through the music and PA section I see the words "Electric guitar effects pedal power". I instantly took a look and asked the store assistant if I could open to box and have a look.

"Sound LAB Pedal Power 450"

Sounds like exactly what I needed, 6 pedals powered at 9V. Best part was, it was only ?20 quid!

I also picked up a set of 6 patch leads for ?6.99

Pretty happy now, I can finally run my DD-6 without risk of crap battery life :D

Feeling Low

Current mood: depressed

Hey people,

Feeling a bit down tonight, I started college on wednesday and I don't feel like I fit in at all. It's all full of World of warcraft players and geeks (no offence). The first day was full of crap about joining the college council. We even had a talk for 15 minutes about the college giving out free fucking condoms. The closest those guys would get to pussy would be if their nans cats came and sat on their lap.

No new friends and I sat on my own twidling my thumbs in silence, I hope it improves. College is about having fun, i'm having about as much fun as watching paint dry.

I thought I should change my personality and stop refering to things as dirty () and just grow up. I don't want to listen to any other music, as listening to Blink 182 and pop punk (MCR NOT included) is my lifeline.

Does everyone feel like this on the first day? I'm I just an artard?

I've got college again tomorrow, and I'm not looking forward to it. I really wanted to do this course and i'm screwed if I don't like it. Don't want to sit in another silent room with people that look and act older than me. My chances of starting a college band is down the shitehole too, as I took a computer course as aposed to the music tech one.

Forgive me for being Emo, but it's just how I feel right now.

Cheers,

Darren
