Crue Fest 2!!!!

I went to see Crue Fest 2 on August 18th at the PNC Arts Center in NJ and it was incredible!!!! Every band on the bill was great, and it was definitley a must see show. It started off with Charm City Devils who were incredible and are now one of my favorite bands. Their lead singer John Allen's voice was soo much better live then on the album and he really need how to get the crowd into it even though barely anyone was there because they went on 10 mins earlier then the show was supposed to start. After their set they left the stage and were signing their CD's for anyone who bought one, I got myself a copy and got to meet every member and just hang around and talk to them. They seemed so genuinely grateful for all of the sales they made and they were so of the nicest most down to earth guys I met. After that I headed back to the stage right in time to catch Drowning Poool who were great. Their set was energetic and it got everyone pumped, especially when the lead singer came into the audience! The third band Diary of a Deadman was the only band I wasn't a big fan of. After hearing Drowning Pool they simply did not compare to the high energy, and were a bit of a let down. The only song I really enjoyed was Bad Girlfriend but it was a really great song to hear live so it made their set somewhat worth it. Up next was Godsmack, who were unbelievable! Before the show I was somewhat of a fan of theirs but I left loving them. Keep Away was amazing to hear live and so was Voodoo, but the highlights for me were the amazing double drum solo and the somewhat cover of Black Sabbath's Warpigs with the Auidence on lead vocals. At this point I was fully pumped up the $235 I spent on two tickets was completely worth it just with those bands, and then Motley Crue came on. Their stage show was amazing, and their set was flawless. Vince Neil sounded great and Nikki Sixx was being a great showmen onstage while playing a flawless bass(While wearing a shirt that said "who the f*ck is Mick Mars" lol). Mick Mars had an beautiful guitar solo, and didn't miss a note all night! The only thing that was perfect was the fact Tommy Lee could only play drums on a few songs, because he burned his hand a few days before the show. It was really cool that he came out to explain things to the audience, and you could tell he tried to play as many songs as he could on drums and he played piano on Home Sweet Home. This was my first concert, and something tells me I will never see another show like it! I'm going to be first in line for Cruefest 3, I already can't wait!

DJ Ashba Joined Guns N Roses?!

I can't believe the news I heard! DJ Ashba Joined Guns N' Roses! I am happy for him getting an oportunity with one of the greatest bands of all time but what does this mean for Sixx: A.M.? Will he pull double duty and be in both bands or are they going to replace him? I hope he can do both cause even though Nikki Sixx is a genius Sixx: A.M. will not be the same without him. I love DJ Ashba but not with GN'R. His work with Sixx: A.M. and Beautiful Creatures is great but I can't find any of it that would fit with Guns. Also he is amazingly creative and I think him and Axl will definately clash creatively. He should have just stayed with Sixx: A.M., but I understand why he joined, afterall could any of us pass up on joining a band as legendary as Guns N' Roses?

Velvet Revolver's Search for a Frontman

Current mood: anxious

I don't know about anyone else, but Velvet Revolver's search for a new lead singer is starting to get to me. It seems like every month people are saying "it should be sometime this month" when they finally reveal who it is. There was a lot of talk about it happening in march and look how that turned out. Yesterday Ultimate-guitar.com had a news report of a slash interview with Gibson.com and slash stated they have not found one yet. Normally I would just say ok hopefully they find one soon, but I happened to catch this weeks episode of That Metal Show and their guest was none other than Duff McKagen. He stated that he knows who the new frontman will be and the reason he couldn't tell us was that he would have to clear it with a lot of people first. The show's hosts Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine, and Don Jamieson were practically begging for at least the initials, but the only thing Duff would say was they are NOT A. R... Shocking! i know. I am not sure when the interviews actually took place but I am hoping that Slash's came before Duff's and they found there man. I Can't wait until they finally announce it, the anticipation is killing me. Hopefully they find someone really great, i think we can all use a resurgence of a true Rock N' Roll band. Rock on everybody!:headbang:
