Well it seems the world has gotten into alot of confusion over the possible end in December 2012. Alot of people have given their opinions and I think maybe I should give mine.
There are 7 reasons (that I'm aware of) why this will happen.
First of all, I personally rule out the "because God/Gods say so" reasons. I do have a faith, but mine holds no such predictions. The thing is with this one is that over the years of holy books being around, they have had to be re-translated, re-written and edited so much that I can't believe for one second that every one of them hasn't been slightly changed every time to such a dramatic effect that they resemble very little of what they used to.
The natural disasters are a little trickier to prove wrong. The ones that I recall are yellowstone erupting, a polar switch and sun storms.
Now, yellowstone is a wierd thing. They say it's due to go off around every 650,000 years (forgive any inaccuracy please) and it's actually overdue. Now, am I the only one wondering how they know this? Yeah sure there's carbon dating and all that stuff but how do they know that's right? You can't just ask the volcano! It's the same with polar switching, how do they know that has ever happened? What's to say these events have to happen every so many years too? Sun storms, ok fair enough, they happen all the time. It's like phases of the moon, but at the same time I've never heard of the things people are saying these cause before like the satelites being blown up and power grids failing due to them.
This brings me to the Mayan calendar. I've done some research on this and the main word that is used to describe the predictions for 2012 is change. OK, maybe something will happen, but who said it'll be the end? The Mayan calendar had cycles, I believe we're in the 4th world now according to these virgin slayers. Sorry to any Mayans out there, that was a little harsh, but so is slaying virgins so what do you care?
A really poor reason is that some guys with calculators used maths to predict this. What the hell? If I went to the hospital, severely injured, I would not want the doctor to pull out a calculator to diagnose me. I think they just liked the number sequence, possibly after writing boobies upside down and having a giggle.
Finally I come to the device they have crafted in Switzerland. One in 500 million chance that we all get sucked into a black hole! I don't mind, playing the lottery since I was 16 and haven't won, so unless you see many threads of me wanting to buy you all free drinks, don't be scared.
