Got into music collage So far it's been epic, the theory and piss easy songs we have to learn i've already done so that side is fine, but the software side i hadn't really done before... well, i'd dabbled in Audacity and looked at Reason but that was about it. New computer is awesome (quad core, 4Gb RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 9800 graphics card), but to use my Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity sound card i'll need Windows 7 when i have money as there is no driver for XP.
Band side of things, starting a new one with a bassist at music collage and the second guitarist from Xenocracy (we're also keeping the same band name) and we're gonna stick up a couple of adverts in music shops for a drummer and vocalist.
I'll soon be getting a 16 dual-track mixing desk which i cant wait to get and i cant remember if the guy said the mixing desk was a Behringer or if i was getting a desk and something else by Behringer.
That's about it, not been busking in ages since it's started to rain now, and the old drummer did get into uni. Songs not done yet, no means of recording until i can use my Sure SM-57.
Haven't done a blog in a while so i thought i may as well since a fair bit has happened.
One of the songs I've written is almost finished recording, just need to redo the bridge and dub the melody over the final chorus. I've been slacking big time over recording but I will upload them eventually .
On the busking front, I hadn't been for a while because of the weather, but it has started to pick up again.
I have a proper student now for guitar lessons, and am expecting more since my business cards are in quite a few windows and some people couldn't put them up but took them because the staff were interested.
The band that has been on and off since 2007 is picking up a little. At the moment we seem to be having weekly practice which is great. Also we're talking about an end of summer holidays gig because based on results, the drummer may be going to uni, no idea what our singer and bassist are doing but the second guitarist and myself will definitely still be on the island.
I intend on uploading more songs or playing skills since the current ones aren't really representative of my skills anymore, but again it's the same situation with the songs.
Should be getting a new PC soon. Ordering the parts on the 20th and am intending on getting Cubase 5 (when i get the money). Also I'm getting an awesome sound card for it .
That's about it really, just sitting around waiting for my A2 results. Hopefully things'll get more exciting soon.
Busked for the first time today, only lasted an hour though as i got a pain in my chest like someone had hit me with a pole. Turned out to just be trapped air but it was enough to make me struggle to breathe. However it wasnt too bad as i made nearly £8 in an hour, tomorrow i should do a bit better as i'll play for longer and move to different places rather than stay in the same place.
Hi guys, just making a blog to let you know i have 3 new songs that i am ready to record. One of them was me playing around with chords and melody which turned out not as bad as i thought it was gonna, this one is nearly finished recording and has the wonderful vocal accompaniments of Fizz and Merla the Cockatiels and Flynn the Parakeet .
The second was a fingerpicked song that i wrote for my fiencé when she was away, fortunatly i had practiced it enough to be able to play it when she got back.
The third one is still a little shakey. It's a metal song i wrote but didnt realize that the opening riff is from Judas Priest's 'Painkiller', also there are a couple of timing issues that i'm having to figure out and a solo that i need to think of that will fit once the timing has been sorted.
I hope to get the first one up within the next week or so and the fingerpicked one not long after that, the metal one may take some more time depending on how long the fixes take and how long it takes me to think up a satisfactory solo.
Cheers for reading and i'll keep you informed as to how things are going.
Hey guys, just thought i'd write a blog since i havnt for a while. I'm pretty much living at my fiancé's house now dispite not having a job still. I get my 65W baby back on saturday and am looking forward to seeing it's happy pink stripe again . Decided to enter Britain's got Talent for next year, I have a couple of ideas of what i might play, but I'm wondering if they're good enough. Maybe I should learn Newton Faulkner as well just to be on the safe side . Started writing some stuff down which I'll try and get a decent recording of, only problem is I'm round my fiancé's house and her 2 cockatiels, 1 parakeet and 1 parrot make background noise a problem.
I've been wanting to give teaching a go for quite a while now and last night was my first one. It was great! In fact, I enjoyed it so much i'm gonna advertise around locally (because i dont have a car yet) for people that want lessons, and at £15 an hour i should be able to get a car and teach all over the island soon
Just got a letter of acceptance from Platform One (music collage). The 2 year course starts in september, so not long after that i should be able to get the band on here to make a page. I will upload all the songs on here as they come.
Very very very very nervious and excited about it, i just played Californication perfectly and have finished writing about why Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God inspires me, also i should be prepared for all the theory questions that they ask me... still exceeding nervious though.
