This is a track Dave Martone and I came up with for the Alchemists Vol. 2 compilation on the British label Liquid Note Recordings (LNR). It features ridiculous double-kick mastery courtesy of drummer Gene Hoglan (Strapping Youg Lad, Death, Opeth). Dave is the blazing first solo and I'm the Martian second solo, as well as the whacked out sounds you're probaby wondering about. { Tags : buono, martone, shred, guitar, pedals, effects, whammy, rock, metal, sweep, picking, tapping, harmonics, slap }
I'm laying down the sounds throughout--even the keyboard type stuff (there was a DJ though)--but I'm in on the dropped D chug on the big choruses too. The artist I was working for was Tony C. (short for Cesternino--like you can't say that or something) and the band's name was Tony C. and the Truth (really put some thought to that one). This was the gig that started the bidding war that led to him getting signed to Lava/Atlantic. BTW, the drummer is Tobias Ralph--same guy on my GBQ YouTube video. { Tags : buono, rock, new, york, city, pedals, effects, whammy, delay, distortion, gain, amp, guitar, live, gig }
This tune is from a session I did a few years back for a very talented artist named Stu Erlich (aka Beduion). You might have heard some solo excerpts around the net--it's on my artist profile on DiMarzio's website for instance--or on this site maybe. Regardless, it's a whammy fest, but more expressive than "Fumble Fingers". The funk is all me too and the middle craziness is yours truly controlling some long-ass delay and a resonant filter! { Tags : buono, guitar, whammy, bar, pedals, effects, solo, rock, jazz, funk, singer, songwriter, strat, berklee, magazine }
