Acoustic Musings (My Self Produced Demo Album)

So, after about two years of piecing together random tracks and the like, I decided I finally wanted to get something together. Not so much because I think I have talent or that someone will sign me (because I don't and they won't) but because I want to feel that sense of accomplishment for finally composing something of my own. That said, I'm going to create a little acoustic compilation thing, featuring all my generally mellow acoustic and hollowbody stuff. This would explain why I've been re-recording several of my older songs or reuploading them under different song titles.

So far I've created a six track list, as well as plan to leave room for two more tracks that don't really fit. Here's the list so far:

1) Sexicano

2) Reflection
3) Morpheus (uploaded originally as Acoustic Jam #1)
4) Cloudtops
5) Sunshine
6) Journey Within (which I'll be rewriting almost completely)

-- Bonus Tracks --

7) Sex With a Cactus (first full song I wrote in acoustic form)
8) Riddler (only song I did vocals on, redone acoustic)

~~~~~
I also have about six or seven other tracks finished for my actual "Sex With a Cactus" demo, many of which are uploaded here.
I'm mainly doing this so I can focus my ideas as well as actually have something to show locally so I can find some other like minded musicians to jam and write with. Hopefully it'll get something started.
Thoughts?
Tabbing out my songs...
I'm thinking of tabbing out most of my demo ideas and holding onto them for future reference or submitting them as practice songs for people.
Any suggestions on how to go about this? Any programs that make tabbing easier?
RIP LES PAUL
Current mood: sad
I just wanted to pay my personal debts to the musical genious that was Les Paul here in my blog. Ever since I was, or even before I was, a fledling guitarist, a title which some might say I still carry to this day, I always envisioned myself with one of of those Les Paul Studios in black, on a stage thrashing out tunes to an audience of thousands.
Now, I find myself playing to crowd of me, myself, and I, and surely I'm unable to afford one of those righteous music machines, and rightly so at that. Still, its a dream of mine to one day have a authentic Les Paul of my own, and to feel the legacy that this wonderful man left behind for us all.
Its a sad day for music, and an even darker day for us guitarists. A genius amongst us has moved on, up the stairway to heaven which his brilliance built, to a better place, where his music can be heard on the traveling wind of heaven. A melody that will forever ring throughout the cosmos.
RIP.
Die In The Fire (Lyrics)
Flameing armageddon dancing across the sky,
Left us victim to nuclear that came in the night,
Political control has been left on the wire,
The stress gets no higher, when the drivers tired.
The radiations set in and now its time to die,
Actions of the elected will end our homely lives,
A fiery flood comes and democracies walls tired,
The system's a liar, they'll all die in the fire.
Now we can quarantine,
All victims of the machine,
Unwilling martyrs,
To die in the fire.
Die in the fire.
In our final hour we're left in the wake,
Of political turmoil and now we must pray,
That something can be made from our ashes,
Cattle killed off by those bastards.
Now there's nothing left and we're wishing,
We looked into who's ass we we're kissing,
Can something really be made from the ashes,
Or have we kicked our own human asses?
Die in the fire.
Die in the fire!
They'll Never Know (Poem)
Another one written during my absense for my fiance...
They'll Never Know
The sweetest flower, decadent with all your thorns,
Sweeter than honey, softer than a spring storm,
Unbound by beauty itself, you never cease to amaze,
I can see true love every time I meet your gaze.
A voice the sweetest song, please won't you sing,
The cure to my cancer, you heal everything,
They'll never understand what you really mean to me,
You're the reason I still walk, speak, and breathe.
The softest skin, lighter than an angel's grace,
I instantly light up, every time I see your face,
Inexplainable m'angel, you have amazing taste,
And in this heart of mine, you'll always have a place.
You're the once unattainable, every man's greatest dream,
A magical stitch that holds me together at the seams,
They'll never understand why we continue to be,
Its because you're the reason I still walk, speak, and breathe
Knots (Poem)
A poem written in my absense:
Knots
Within that stalking shadow,
Under the light of twenty one suns,
We pull the knots together,
Prisoners in the bondage of our love.
They aim to cut the rope now,
Out of unconditional loving hate,
But we pull the knots together,
Prisoners in the bondage of our faith.
So lock me in this passion,
And please destroy the only key,
Because I only find satifaction,
In binding you to me.
We'll smile together through the day,
And cry together through the night,
Because we only find satifaction,
In never giving up the fight.
Update - February
Current mood: awake
Figured I'd post an update for everyone, since I haven't really been around lately, to keep everyone updated on what I'm doing/working on.
I've been grinding the bass scales, and working on my rhythm and musical theory, switching my overall focus from guitar to bass (I just enjoy playing it more - fits my personality I guess). However, I'm still working on writing guitar passages for several songs, and have several songs already written, but still unrecorded.
I plan to, when I have time, re-record several of my songs with bass tracks and electronic passages added in (e.g: The Journey Within), as well as record the new songs I've got written, and fine tune a couple of the old ones such as Strange Spirit, which was largely just an improvised riff I recorded so I wouldn't forget it. Its mostly about finding the time and the drive to sit down and complete the stuff I started.
Me and my buddy who I'm suppose to be playing with are also working on a couple songs, but so far, its running slow - we'll see how that goes.
Ultimately, I'm just writing when I have the drive/time mostly for fun, so don't expect anything spectacular from me - just doing what I enjoy :D
Anyways, there's my little update. Let you all know I'm not dead yet, and that I'm still checking in from time to time.
Peace all,
Busproof
Update Blog
So, I've been falling behind when it comes to updating my UG account the past couple weeks and figured I'd drop in and give a run down as to what exactly is going on with me.
First off, I'm working on a poetry book, so thats been absorbing a lot of my time. I've also been spending most of time with my lover, so thats another reason for my absense.
Bass - its going ok, I'm going through and picking up songs at a pretty decent rate. I'm finding I enjoy it more than actual guitar, not because of the simplicity, but because its more rhythm and low end based, so its fits my personal style better.
Still writing lyrics and music, haven't had the time to record though. I've 'finished' Sexacano, Blue's Balls, as well as several other songs, also been experimenting with the electronic sound some.
So, if you guys want to team up online for some jamming, I'm down to play bass. I'm nothing particularly special, but I do have rhythm, and as long as I can tell what root note your start the riff in, I can come up with something to thump along with.
But yeah, there's my update. I'll be updating more often in the next few days.
-Peace
"What If?" (Poem, Unfinished)
Days will pass, but still the past,
Will continue to replay throughout the day,
Farther from the fear, but still you feel,
Time is racing you towards an early grave.
In a moment of haste or in a thousand days,
No second will ever be quite the same,
You're farther away, but yet it stays,
Yesterday is gone, but the pain remains...
Is this what you are living for?
To live in the instant in another place.
Or is this just the 'what ifs?' once again?
Do you think this will ever make it change?
Is this what you have been waiting for?
A chance to plan the funeral and drive the hearse?
Is the unchangable really worth dying for?
Or could life really be so much worse?
Merry Xmas and Track Updates =D
So, first off, Merry Christmas too all. I managed to get a hold of a bass (finally) and have been tampering with the wiring and the like. With this recent aquirement, I can now officially say that the band is together and we WILL be recording.
The bass tracks aren't going to fill a stereotypical bass sound. I plan on using plenty of distortion, and am playing through a guitar amp for added crunch.
So expect to see plenty of new stuff soon. :)
