juckfush wrote on Jan 1st, 2010 11:57pmCheers man, I definitely like to experiment with different methods If you're interested in trying something out, there's a link at the bottom of this message to a page Jarzombek's site, that explains his variant of the 12 tone methods (it basically explains that you can use all twelve notes arranged on a clock, and group them by a series of mathematical colour codes. From there, you'd use each colour code for an individual riff, or section, and interchange between them). There are some video demonstrations up with animations to show which code is being used, and the results are surprisingly effective. =]
And yes sir! I'll try to get around to checking out the piece later today
Take it easy,

juckfush wrote on Jan 1st, 2010 1:20amCheers man, I hope you had yourself a great night.
I'll be keeping an eye out, definitely - I visit T&C every day I've hit a bit of a roadblock, actually - which probably means I'll end up ditching all my usual methods of writing and experimenting with new ones to get my groove back. ^ ^
The last thing I did was use the Chromatic Alphabet (an idea used by Ron Jarzombek of Spastic Ink fame), in which you build words and phrases using positions on the fretboard as letters of the alphabet (the low open E is an A, first fret low E is B, all the way to the first fret, high E; the letter Z), which makes for some really bizarre, atonal phrases with huge interval jumps. Surprisingly, you can get some groovy and very melodic ideas out of this!
Alex (or juckfush - my friends and I would always sign up to sites with the name Jack Fish, because we thought it'd prevent identity theft or whatnot. A friend of mine is a Kiwi, so we recommended Juck Fush for her. Very lame, I know ) quote |
juckfush wrote on Dec 31st, 2009 6:38amHa, of course! Cheers for the request
So how have you been, and how's writing coming along? Be sure to let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to check out.
And most importantly, Happy New Year!

duncang wrote on Jun 14th, 2008 8:41pmThanks.
...though it's sort of sad that there aren't that many albums where you like all the songs =/ quote |
