Got my first guitar (Tatra Classic - nylon strung, and still with me) in the summer of '68 (damn, just missed it!). Added a Mandolin, that I've since lost, a couple of years later. Bought a cheap Japanese bass out of the classified ads in the local paper in the seventies on a whim. Wrote a few songs in the late seventies and early eighties, and bought a 12-string acoustic at that time too. Moved to Nottingham in the mid-eighties and played a few times at Bingham folk club. Marriage and kids saw the guitars confined to the cupboard for a good few years, but they came out again in 2006 when my wife encouraged me to take part in the "Weekend Warriors" programme run out of our local music shop (Guitar Base, West Bridgford). Since then I've acquired more gear - certainly more than my wife appreciates - and have rediscovered the joy of playing, especially in a band. The writing has restarted, and the enjoyment is building. A hobby SO worth having.
