Oh that's awesome! Newport is beautiful- a little out of the way from where I live in the state. It gets so busy there in the summer I try to avoid it.

It's sort of the sequel to Wild Sheep Chase (which isn't quite as good but still well worth the read) but it's not imperative that you read them in order. Great music references as usual. This is probably what I'd recommend reading next.
Or if you want something a bit mind bending, go for Hard Boiled Wonderland. A couple of my friends rate this as their favourite Murakami novel. It's slightly more difficult to get into because there are two intertwining stories (much like Kafka) but the pay off is worth it! God knows how he managed to write this one without the use of drugs haha.
