ULTIMATE WARM-UP #1

This is for guitarists who travel alot and do not have much time in the day to warm up for a gig. With this excercise one will not be subject to injury as s/he would be without warming up. The trick in doing this is to do it as fast as possible in one consecutive run.

First before even touching the guitar one should start off with usual forearm stretches inorder to loosen up his/her hands and then start off on the fifth fret doing the following transcrption with the index and middle fingers:

e-------------5h6p5-------------------]
B----------5h6-----6p5----------------]
G-------5h6-----------6p5-------------]
D----5h6------------------6p5---------]
A--5h6-----------------------6p5------]
E5h6-----------------------------6p5--]

It is better if you sweep pick this for the excercise to work most effectively but alternating or economy picking is fine.
Now with the index and ring finger:

e----------------5h7p5-------------------]
B-------------5h7------7p5---------------]
G----------5h7------------7p5------------]
D-------5h7------------------7p5---------]
A---5h7-------------------------7p5------]
E5h7--------------------------------7p5--]
Now with the index and the pinky:
e-----------------5h8p5---------------------]
B-------------5h8------8p5------------------]
G---------5h8--------------8p5--------------]
D------5h8---------------------8p5----------]
A---5h8----------------------------8p5------]
E5h8-----------------------------------8p5--]
Now with the middle and the ring:
e------------------6h7p6--------------------]
B--------------6h7------7p6-----------------]
G----------6h7-------------7p6--------------]
D------6h7---------------------7p6----------]
A---6h7----------------------------7p6------]
E6h7-----------------------------------7p6--]
Now the middle and the pinky
e----------------6h8p6---------------------]
B-------------6h8-----8p6------------------]
G---------6h8-------------8p6--------------]
D------6h8--------------------8p6----------]
A---6h8---------------------------8p6------]
E6h8----------------------------------8p6--]
            Now the ring and pinky
e-----------------7h8p7-------------------]
B-------------7h8------8p7----------------]
G---------7h8-------------8p7-------------]
D------7h8--------------------8p7---------]
A---7h8--------------------------8p7------]
E7h8---------------------------------8p7--]
Now for the KILLER! this involves you using your middle and ring fingers by streching them a fret

e-------------------6h8p6--------------------]
B---------------6h8-------8p6----------------]
G-----------6h8--------------8p6-------------]
D-------6h8----------------------8p6---------]
A---6h8------------------------------8p6-----]
E6h8-------------------------------------8p6-]

After doing all this you should feel warmed up but if you really want to make sure try this in the 1st position and then the 17th. After doing this youll be able to play a sound more fluid.

Peace,
Ben:D
