You could solo in E minor (Aeolan) or G Major (Ionian) or any other modes that would fall in. As far as i remember your question was do you change scales/modes when going from one chord to another? The answer is no. You can play the same exact thing over each chord in the progression and it would sound different even though the lead you are playing is the same. Many songs do this. i hoped i helped you. if you have guitar pro i could tab you out an example quote |
vp_nyc wrote on May 12th, 2009 11:03pmYeah sure Id simplify it for you. If you have the chord progression E, G, and A, since you're starting with E as your first chord, you're gonna be in the key of E. You are also gonna be in minor(Aeolian) because you have a G in there. The E minor scale is E F# G A B C D (E). E Major would be E F# G# A B C# D# (E). Since G does not fall into the E Major Scale, we cant play in major because that would create alot of dissonance once we hit the G chord in the progression. (dissonance = nasty sounds). So we're gonna play in E minor.
So lets say we're in a standard time signature (4/4).
So the rhythm goes E, G, A, E
and repeats on and on. quote |
ldnovelo wrote on Jan 21st, 2009 4:16amnice playing. you could get better bends than those at about 0:27 and 0:36. also, at about 0:30, the slow phrase sounds kinda weird, not bad. also, you sometimes hit other strings, so work on playing clean. After all, it's nice for 1 1/2 years. You could try writing something more complicated instead of just improivising, your chops are nice. BTW, some vibrato would make your playing a bit nicer. quote |
