Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse would have to be my favorite bands of all time.
Favorite guitarists :
Jimmy Hendrix is a genius when it comes to epic guitar solos. Kirk Hamett is awesome as well not to mention John Frusciante's funky guitar licks and Matt Bellamy's crazy guitar antics on stage.
Favorite bassists :
Victor Wooten is probably the most funkiest bass player to have ever lived. Flea's catchy funk rock riffs, Rocco Prestia's superb fingerstyle jazz/funk lines, Marcus Miller's incredible slap n pop technique and Jaco Pastorius' legendary bass playing style are also incredible in their own right.
