Erock503 wrote on Jan 21st, 2008 7:59pmHi bro, the Mark IV clips are all on the lead channel, boosted with an OD808, and the graphic EQ is the classic V. My settings are very close to the factory settings as far as the rest of the EQ. Just small tweaks here and there. Everything is usually pulled though, and I run it at full power, simulclass, and pentode. quote |

Well, there are some nice sounding presets can be archieved. I could make them sound like some old bands, got some power metal sounds, but unfortunately I couldn`t tune them for a good thrashy sound. ATM I use MT-2 as a pre-distortion for my OS-2. There are plenty of new tuning possibilities with such layout. quote |
Reages wrote on Dec 23rd, 2007 9:47amhey, interesting music.
how good metal zone sounds through cube 60? quote |
Ash Fargouha wrote on Nov 27th, 2007 9:37pmHehe, thanks.
The whole mess about the quality is that I`ve upgraded my amp and now I`m trying to get somewhat nice quality by recording from the amp`s line out. The former records were done using a crappy mic so they only seem nice, but when you turn the volume up you can hear huge flaws.
Another reason for rerecording is that I have changed my tone (new pedals) and I feel I can play some solo parts better.
Also I bought a nice acoustic and I plan rerecording of the second part in "Still thinking of..." As it sounds rather damn bad ATM - those basses dumping everything else so you can`t even use a compressor and such.
So basically, I`m trying to make it sound richer without altering major parts quote |
Erock503 wrote on Nov 27th, 2007 8:06pmthanks for the kind words man. I really dig your stuff too. The playing and tone are very nice. Excellent recording quality too imo. I use a Shure57 or DI to a palmer speaker sim, and then into a GNX4 multifx recorder/mic pre. I don't think you need to change anything in your recording setup though, it sounds very good to me. quote |
Ash Fargouha wrote on Nov 27th, 2007 1:11amHey, thanks for the warm words
I don`t know what the glitch about "That hot wind" is. I get the progress bar moving too slow too, but the mp3 is 44100kHz and 128kbps and it must behave right.. so I`ll just try to reupload it later since it plays ok.
Now concerning "Still thinking of...".Hehe, there are many effects being processed in it. First of all there are two guitars playing (almost) simultaneously and they are panned into different channels. Then there is a delay effect which echoes the right channel guitar to the left channel and the left channel guitar to the right. Then there is an overall reverb. All this creates an illusion of density of the sound and gives a feel of room. Also I`m using some backing synth effects that are sometimes overdub the acoustic chords in that "windy" voice. The distortion guitar also uses some reverb i think. quote |
Spay wrote on Nov 27th, 2007 1:00amI really like "That hot wind" I'm a sucker for a slide guitar. But there's something weird about the MP3 file, and it's nothing major, but the thing that says how far you are in the song only goes to about 6 seconds then stops, maybe it's just me, but the MP3 keeps playing so I guess no big deal
What kind of effects are you using on "Still thinking of..."? It sounds like a mix between my my Phaser, high reverb, and bow strings. I'm kinda curious as to how your making that kind of sustain, it's beautiful. Love the song too, that distorted solo in the middle killed me, beautiful. quote |
Ash Fargouha wrote on Nov 26th, 2007 9:50pmHehe, thanks for the feedback fist of all both of you
I`m glad that the Life`s ticking could provide you some mood.
And yes, I used a slide to play That hot wind. quote |
jOHANEN wrote on Nov 26th, 2007 9:46pmhmm it's very nice, maybe this song could be played while you entered the stage or something, but I dont know if you are in a band or anything.. Anyways, nice song, I like the soloing underneath and everything, very chilling weird feeling...
The country thing is pretty cool, did you use a slide or what? hehe quote |
p4wnkkthx wrote on Nov 25th, 2007 9:33pmVery nice, brother. I especially like the arpeggio underneath the lead. The playing was filled with a lot of emotion, and some of the phrases were well developed and sounded great! I didn't like some of the dissonant bending (which is odd, I usually like dissonance). That's just a matter of taste, though. My only real digs are I don't think the lead work flowed as well as it could... Maybe tone down on the playing for a few spots and let the sustain work its magic more. quote |
