First song recorded.

Current mood: accomplished

So yeah, over the last few weeks in college we've been trying to record "What gives you the right?", and we've finally got everything recorded! It's been quite a pain in the ass actually, due to a bunch of shit in college, such as changes to the song, changes to the band, problems with the recording equipment, problems with the written work... Quite honestly I'm disappointed that it took us this long, but also quite proud in a way that it sounds as OK as it does. At least it doesn't suck. We just need to mix it, and then I can put it up on here.

What gives you the fucking right? Good Question

Current mood: confused

I cannot believe the nerve of some politicians who seem to think they have the right to enact as much control over people's lives and thoughts as they seem to want to. Since when has it been the government's job to legislate morality instead of protecting the citizens? And since when has the gender of the people signing a marriage license meant more than such things as the Bill of Rights? The Geneva Convention? The Kyoto Protocols? The UDHR? The Nuremberg Principles?

I know that politicians are hypocrites, but why is no-one fighting against them?

And be under no false impression that I am talking exclusively about any one country or party. While inspired by the GOP, this song very much applies to the Democrats, the Labour Party, the Tories and everyone out there who participates in this kind of shit or lets it happen.

"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality." - Desmond Tutu

Good Question

What gives you the fucking right
to police the entire world?
To force the world to choose to choose...
You wonder why they fight?

What gives you the fucking right
to steal that which we earn?
We work for you, we bleed for you,
and you don't hear our plight.

You espouse to favour life
but send us off to die
in stupid foreign power struggles...
All you do is lie!

You scream big government in the name
of blood and pain and gore,
but scream small government when all we want
is health care for the poor.

What gives you the fucking right
To torture and distrust
"enemy combatants"
just because they aren't white?

What gives you the fucking right
to stop us saving lives?
This research could help us all,
have you no fucking sight?

What gives you the fucking right
to censor what we say?
What gives you the fucking right
to say we have to pray?
What gives you the fucking right
to make your god official?
What gives you the fucking right
what makes you so special?

And why don't we as citizens care
About these hypocrites?
Why don't we stand up to them?
Why do we not dare?

If we do not stand up and fight
for our right to liberty,
then we the people, cowards
give them the fucking right.

Nothing to Fear - Lyrics

Current mood: thoughtful

Ever since I saw the world I always felt molested.
In the face of tyranny we’re beat down and arrested.
Power hungry politicians lying to the nation.
Well we will not be fooled. It’s time to start the revolution.

Chorus:
The system tries to control us.
But freedom comes, the day is near.
Cos with fire in our hearts and wind in our hair,
We know we’ve nothing to fear.

We’ll never yield to their abuse; we’ll stand up tall and proud.
They try to silence us but we will shout out loud.

Chorus

No more lies and
No more hate and
No more blood and
No more tears and

No more turning
No more running
No more cowering
No more fears

Grab your bats and
Find your bricks and
Never fear their bags of tricks.

The time has come to rise against and fight

Chorus x2
