I have uploaded tracks from ENRAGE, THE FEAR EFFECT & ICON. Feel free to spool through, although you will need to view -all- MP3's to see them all. Please rate them, and leave comments. I always return the favour. In due time I will upload some of my older tracks, from STEALTH ENGINE APEX, GODPLAN and VESUVIAN. But for now, the newest is best.
Thanks for checking out my tunes guys and gals. I really appreciate it!
...my first ever solo outing was with a project I called; "DREX" It was a basic metal project that included elements of industrial, hardcore and death metal all rolled into one. Add to the mix a shit-load of melodic chorus's and on many occassions, concept stories to go with each tune/album, and you have the very beginnings of the music I write now. So let me list a few of the outings that ended up leading to ENRAGE.
DIVIDED BY ONE (2001 - 2006) Metal I was drumming for a covers band when I was approached by a long-time friend from DB1 to audition for vocals. (Why? No idea!) I blew them away in the studio and proceeded to perform and record live with them for the next five years. Over it's course DB1 would play with Breed 77, Cradle of Filth, Sabat, Vex Red (Of Ross Robinson fame), The More I See, and tour the UK from London to Newcastle. After the full-length, "Mostly Human" final shows were played within the home county, including the legendary gig at Po Na Na's in Lincoln City.
All members, past and former, are still in conact and great friends. All musicians are still playing/writing/performing music.
STEALTH ENGINE APEX (1999 - 2007) - Industrial Metal A collection of demos that were originally intended for use with my live band, of which I was the vocalist; DIVIDED BY ONE. That band unfortunately disbanded, but the demos I wrote were too good to just throw away. So I continued the project as a solo outing and posted my songs onto Unsigned Band Web.
After minor success with the project, I ended up putting my heart into four full-length LP's, three EP's and countless unused demos and tracks. At first I used minimal equipment, jury-rigging everything and anything I could find to create complete songs. It had been with this solo outing that I actually learned how to play guitar. I had bought myself a Cruiser, by Crafter, which to this day I still have and record with. (You can still hear the guitar, on the ENRAGE project in my MP3's.)
Who knows, maybe I will upload some S.E.A material, and you can see the vast improvement of production quality I have managed to achieve in the home.
GODPLAN(2004-2006) - Grindcore At the same time as I was writing for S.E.A, my mind was bristling with new ideas. Writing and recording music was (and still is) such a personal hobby to me, that I could not contain my ideas to one project - not least under the same name. So I decided I had enough material to create the immense, gargantuan grindcore project, GODPLAN.
I wrote the initial EP, "Echoes" within two days. And it was so ridiculously heavy and brutal, that it proceeded to outweigh anything I had written before. But it was exhausting music to write, and certainly to do vocals for. And after I had gotten rage out of my system (As I tend to do systematically from year to year) I left GODLAN behind and continued on with another project.
VESUVIAN - (2005 - 2009) - Black Metal Created solely for my personal enjoyment, this black metal project was a nod to everything I loved about the genre. Blending the concepts of celestial battles, vampires, demons and angels all into one medley of super-charged drums, violent and traditional metal riffs, with orchestral samples, more than satiated my lust for experimentation. I did this project, merely because I wanted to do a black metal album. And so that is where Vesuvian came from.
B.K.A aka Boston Knife Attack (2007 - 2008)Hardcore A one-time project that lasted for a year, B.K.A stemmed from myself and four of my mates being bored with the local music scene. Purely hardcore, with savage, violent and relentless audio, mixed with a backbone subject matter of murder, and urban horror, it was taken in by fans to an incredible level. Notoriety of the band spread far and wide with the very first demo, and their hometown gigs in Boston, Lincolnshire, were followed by an incredibly loyal following of BKA fans.
Sadly, I was due to return to my unit with the British Army, and could not be a full-time vocalist for B.K.A. The original members, minus myself, now form a Hardcore band you know. "Cold Hard Truth" is now signed to (I Want Out Records) and are devastating the international hardcore scene.
THE FEAR EFFECT(2009 - Present) I took aspects of everything I loved most in music and rolled it all into one very polished, complete and well-produced project called; The Fear Effect. It was everything I had originally wanted for S.E.A back then, but in a new formula and done a whole lot better. The debut "Rise of the phoenix" (Available here - http://artists.ultimate-guitar.com/thefeareffect/m usic/albums/651157 ) was written within a single week, and marked a return to music after almost a two-year hiatus.
Blending drum & bass, breakbeat, metal, industrial and ambient all into one very heavy, but more approachable project, was more for myself than anyone else. I wrote it, because it was the kind of music I wanted to listen to. Sounds very conceited, but if there is noone out there making the music you want to hear, do it yourself!
The second outing of The Fear Effect, was "Order of the nine" (Preview available here - http://artists.ultimate-guitar.com/thefeareffect/m usic/albums/839504 ) which was another concept album, written in a sci-fi action story. It was a lot of fun to write, and is by far the most complete album I have ever written. Means a lot to me, personally, in lyrics/theme and story. It is an achievement for a challenge I set myself.
A brand new song has just been uploaded for the ENRAGE project. I finished it today, and am happy with how it turned out. It's the usual heavy, aggressive and dirty style I love. Filthy metal, distorted vocals and brutal (albeit simple) riffs.
Yes, for your listening (dis)pleasure, I have included a new palm-mute instructional track, for beginners to experiment with making heavy snap-neck riffs. I have also uploaded a couple of tracks from previous projects. Enjoy!
If you are reading this, then you have shown some interest into The Fear Effect, and are seeking to know more. Well, consider this the "Would you like to know MORE" button you see at the bottom of the screen in Starship Troopers. Here be thy low of the down!
LOWDOWN. I am uploading everything that I have done thus far with The Fear Effect project. That is album art, promo pictures, songs, EP's, LP's, Singles and pringles. Oh yes. If I have written and recorded it. It will be up here.
