So this week, my band played at the school music festival. It was the same show played on three differenet nights (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Mind you, at the start of the week we were pissed off.
We were told we could probably fit about three or four songs whilst the orchestra set up. That got cut down to two. So Tuesday, we played The Trooper and Teenagers. The Trooper wasn't too good, some parts of the solo I screwed up but people didn't notice much. Teenagers was great, except I once again screwed the solo up, this time playing the start one fret lower than it should be.
Wednesday sucked balls. We were only able to play one song, so we choose Teenagers. The crowd response was great, and the song flowed well. It was a good performance, but not enough for us.
So yesterday (Thursday) was our last show. We were told we could do two songs, so we decided to play the same as Tuesday except swap the order around. Teengers kicked ass. Crowd response was fantastic, no screw ups at all, and singer sang great. Then, as we finished and the curtains closed, the Orchestra music teacher shook her said to say "we're not ready", but by that time, the curtains closed and we couldn't do another song.
However, our spirits changed. We found out afterwards we could finish the night off with the Trooper as eveyrbody was leaving. So, just after the final speach from our head teacher, we rocked into the Trooper. Everybody who was leaving stopped and watched, clapped along and cheered. No screw ups in the solo, thankfully, and at the end, me and the jammed intead of ending the song when it would.
Overall, I'd say there were some high and low parts of the week.
Highs - Great crowd response - Wasn't too many srcew ups - Didn't feel nervous - Good stage prescene
Lows - Screwing up two solos - Singers microphone cut out on Wednesday - Being cut off on Thursday
