gm jack wrote on Apr 13th, 2008 8:09pmFor my purposes, the sweet 15 is perfect. The Ashdown MAG 300 mever sounded great to me, and I feel the Sweet 15 is the only other real competator in the price and power range.
I haven't tried the Sweet 25, but from the specs it looks great for a high power combo, and it should be if it has the quality of the lower model. quote |
sam_ofzo wrote on Mar 25th, 2008 5:39pmIt kinda depends on what you're looking for.
If your looking for a neutral, clean sounding amp with some tonal versatility (it sounds a bit like Hartke, GK or trace elliot), I'd definatly recomend it.
If you're looking for the typical Ampeg/Ashdown colored sound, I wouldn't recomend it.
I love my amp a lot, but I don't like the typical ampeg/ashdown sound =).
It's a great amp anyway, although you might want to get the 25.1 if you've got (very) loud guitar players. If not, the 15.2 is excelent. It's loud enough for small gigs as wel.
If you've got any questions, feel free to ask =). quote |

indie-bassist wrote on Jan 3rd, 2008 8:36pmHey,
It's definitely worth the buy in my opinion. I tried it up against a SanSamp Bass Driver and the MXR DI box that has distortion and the Fulltone really leaped out at me as being by far the best one there. I had no need for the DI stuff on the others and Fulltone really is just a fantastic overdrive pedal, no frills.
The boost function is great for when you need a bit of extra grit and the 3 modes, comp-cut, FM and vintage all sound great and have their uses. At the moment I have mine set on comp-cut pretty much all the time and can get a fantastic tube-style grind.
It won't do your Muse-esque fuzz sounds but it's brilliant if a classic overdriven bass sound is what you're after. quote |
