Let me get this straight a friend of mine has played this little metal riff for 3 weeks till he got good enough to play at almost 4 times its regular speed at the same time i was studying music theory and learning new scales three days ago we show up at a friends house and we play around a little the metal guy plays that one little riff with mabye 4 different variations in it while i was laying down blues rythems and for him the only problem was that i couldn't figure out the key -it was so fast it was unreconizable- and the distortion and gain and reverb on it didn't help either i immediatly get my chops busted for being a crappy guitarist i ask him to play something new and he says he doesn't have anything new so now i am stuck with trying to figure out what keys this damm riff is in or just to leave I LEFT
This is a great example of the problem that guitarists think FAST equals GOOD all fast equals is skill at one certian riff good is being able to play a solo when your told that it needs to be in the key of A SHARP Minor But todays music put Fast in front of good and bands like Dragon force reinforce the idea (honestly guys Dragonforce isn't that good they play FAST) People need to learn fast Players will only impress non muscians and only for how many riffs you can play fast Good Players not only impresses muscians but it earns respect with them

I came out with a faker list and now i am coming out with a list of Real Performers Guitarists: Eric Clapton ( The man is Amazing his Crossroads tour in '07 at Chicago he brought in the best around the world and was one of the best concerts ever) Santana he may not make much music any more but is the one of the best musical talents to ever come from a spanish heritage Eric Johnson if he ever comes to your town then get a ticket possibly the most underrated blues guitarist ever he is incredible and that is all i can say
Bands Rage against the Machine their recent tour have showed the Talents of the group and brought back memories of just how ground breaking the group was
The Fakers everyone hates them The people who cheat the fans i have seen a couple preform and it P***es me off so instead of writing them and telling them they suck i am making an open list so everyone knows
Guitarists: Herman Li (Any questions didn't think so) Jack Johnson and before i get shot for saying this he plays the most basic music you can produce and when you listen to his lyrics they are all focused on one thing I'll let you figure this one out
Bands: Dragon Force (look up Herman Li) Daughtery (could you get any worse man and Slash are you broke or something why did you contribute to his CD) ANY BODY CAUGHT LIP SINGING if you cant perform live then you shouldnt perform at all simple as that and i will stick to it
BASS: Still in thought love some ideas though
Drums: That guy from BON JOVI so what if he uses mallots instead of sticks he has been playing longer then i'm alive and he play the same beat in a different tempo every time.

I've hit a wall the type were you just want to throw a guitar down an elevator shaft
I know everybody hits one but i was just watching some 8 year old playing "Red House" in a band perfectly and a 12 year old play with Buddy Guy and jamming on "Strange Brew" on YOU TUBE when i was 8 it was a 50/50 chance i could even spell guitar right and when i was 12 i just was taught basic blues songs
This just shows that their are TWO types of Guitars players out there Those who were Born with it and those who would kill for it to come as easy an Type 1 makes it look

Bands Like Dragonforce absolutly cheat the listener
For those who didn't know they speed up most of their music
Fire and Flames is somthing like an 8 or 9 min song and they almost double it
The only thing not sped up is the lyrics so when they are live they sound terrible
Got any other bands
Love to hear them
