well its a modeling amp so you will have trouble running effects through it. and although it was designed by rehnold bogner, it really isn't that great. its just another line 6 cash cow.
you could try some Laney half stacks. like the gh50l / gh100l and a 412 cab. that should be at the same price as the spider valve and have much better tonal characteristics (doesnt look as cool though ) but it is hands down the better amp.
