Venting

Current mood: angry

Hey guys, i was gonna post this in the forums but instead it can be my very first blog... ever! (Really. Anywhere, ever.) So i know you're all pretty excited.

So for the last three or four months i've been courting (read: procrastinating and putting-off buying) the LTD EC-500 (Linkage - http://www.zzounds.com/item--ESPEC500
 ;) but recently i've found a new flame in the EC-1000 (More Linkage - http://www.zzounds.com/item--ESPEC1000 ).

Firstly, if you live in the US, drop what you are doing right now and go and buy this guitar... right now! Its amazing. EMG's, quilted maple top, locking tuners, locking bridge (whatever that does...). At like 850 USD its value quotient is approaching infinity.

Now, my problem is this. the AUD is about 90 US cents right now. Right, so 850/0.90 = about 950. Add maybe three or four hundred for shipping and middlemen etc. and yeah, say 1350 AUD. Still GREAT value. But no. For starters, allans and billy hyde don't stock esps/ltds as far as i know (with their whole 5 shops each in the whole of Australia btw), and the only place i can get this wonderful guitar has a list price for it of... wait for it.... $2,400!

WHY? GOD WHY? Its just not fair.

I've saved up enough to comfortably spend 1500 on a guitar, but that is just too damn much. So they're being deprived of my business and i'm being deprived of enjoying this beautiful, brilliant guitar because of their damn prohibitive pricing. I feel so cheated.

Pfft and there's this government ad on the tv that mentions that Australia has the 8th highest standard of living in the world.... Nah, not as far as guitarists are concerned!

Well i'm gonna sit here and feel sorry for myself. If u live anywhere with reasonable guitar pricing, leave home now to get that guitar! If its the middle of the night take a sleeping bag and sleep on the guitar shop's steps. Its worth it.

Bye.
