I think a quick introduction is in order first, in short, I decided to 'get into' photography a while back, but because of the joys of exams and crap loads of work, I didn't have the time. But now I do, and I've decided to write about my experiences of 'learning' photography. I'm also going to Italy in about 6 weeks, so I'm hoping by then I'll know enough about my camera and how to take good photos, to get some nice shots whilst I'm there.
So... my camera (I think) is a Fujifilm FinePix S9500. Personally, I don't have a clue weather this is a good or bad camera, but considering I didn't pay a penny for it, I'm currently not too bothered.
My main question to anyone who is reading this and does photography, is concerning photo editing. Currently I have almost no knowledge of photo editing, and at the moment would like to know what the best programme/softwear for editing is. (My initial thoughts of what to use is to go with photoshop, but I'd like some opinions on that one please)
Concerning what I've done so far with my camera, this morning I was outside for a nice amount of time, working through how the autofocus works (though Im most likely going to be told its better to use manual focus, which I will, but AF is a start)
I'm going to set up a Flickr account at somepoint in the near future, which means after a while I'll be able to put some pictures up to show my progress and to show off whatever abilities my camera has
And thats it for now, cheers for reading, and any advise/tips/answers to above questions would be much appreciated (I'd also like people's thoughts on this blog, because if no one seems intrested in it, I won't bother with it)
Hmmm... I'm not much of a camera man myself, but the best thing you can do to learn about your camera is to play with it. Just spend an entire day devoted to messing around with the focus settings, and the zoom function, and whatever the hell else it's got.
Now the blog, that's well written. People just don't write 'em like this anymore. It's got wit, but not too much. It's charming in it's simplicity and everything is spelled correctly. You deserve a fucking reward or something.

Have fun in Italy!
haha, cheers
Yeah thats what im basically doing, sitting around outside when the weathers nice and going through all the different stuff, though I'm not currently going to spend n entire day mainly due to the fact that I'll do so much that I can't remember half the stuff by the end of the day
well you do have a good camera.
so just depends on what your favorite kind of photography is.
mine is micro, so i get down to the ground and close up.
as for editing i use www.picnik.com and http://fotoflexer.com/
and those are the free ones.
so good luck and have fun
